As a local this restaurant has been off my radar for some unexplained reason. I normally end up in some of the other local places around. However my wife and I just decided to give it a go for a change as we hadnt been there in 3 years.
Our starters of prawns and scallops were absolutely delicious (€9). It was a perfect blend of tastes and you would have tried to lick the plate if you thought nobody was watching. We then had the steak on a hot stone served with 3 sauces (€24) sauteed mushroom and onions (delicious) and chunky potato roast wedges. It all combined together beautifully and the steak was among the tastiest I have ever had. The desserts didnt let us down either. Really gorgeous.
Service was very pleasant and not at all instrusive.
When we came out we both agreed that there wasnt a single thing we could grumble about (not often I can say that, believe me). It was an excellent experience and we cant wait to return soon.
It was worth every cent. Although this place has been in our midst for a few years, it was like discovering a completely new restaurant. Other places in Dunboyne are very good but this is a notch above them..

A friend and I had lunch here recently, its been about 6 months since I was in the area and knowing the history of the restaurant we could not pass it. As usual the food and service were excellent. Just one draw back, there bathroom facilities are upstairs which is a pity. Hopefully we will be back again soon.

We came in here while on the weekend city-break in Dunboyne Castle. As we wanted to get out of the hotel restaurant (also surprise wedding at the hotel topped it) – this was our choice. And I must say, it was a very good choice indeed. As it was Saturday night and a small town being Dunboyne – it was quite full. For a starter we shared Portobello Mushrooms, and let me say – it was outstanding. Balance of the stuffing (chorizo and mozzarella) and the sauce were just right, and each flavour just stood out alone. Then we had their famous steak on stone, with 3 different sauces, potato wedges and brilliant, crispy green veggies. Steak was simply amazing – light and fresh, on the stone you can make each bite-size piece for your own liking (it was braised, so it closed all the taste inside, and it wasn’t raw from the fridge, so don’t be afraid of it). I can easily say this was one of the best steaks I ever had, definitely in my Top 3, and mostly due to the quality of the meat. I couldn’t stop being amazed till the last bite, really. ? The second main we’ve had was penne pasta with courgette and red pepper sauce. This was as well very good, rich and tasty till the last mouthful. We don't usually do desserts, but encouraged by this great quality of food we did go with a toffee apple cake (their speciality, you must try it!) and raspberry cheesecake – both with a piece of ice-cream. As I said, not being a fan of desserts I just loved both of them. For all of this (and mostly steak) we sent sincere and honest compliment to the kitchen. Service was brilliant, very chatty, friendly, smiling, natural and relaxed. As was the atmosphere. We also got complimentary dessert drinks from the management, to finish the day. After this visit I still can’t believe that there is such a gap in food quality between most Dublin restaurants and such a small place just outside the town. It seems no one really cares anymore for a customer in Dublin restaurants, as most of them I find mediocre. But this one will stay with me for a while. We are definit

Went here today for lunch as needed to get out of the office and it was one of the few restaurants close by that's open for lunch, looking at the menu it seems like very good value for eating in, although it's mainly wraps and sandwiches on the lunch menu and didn't feel like going that route and I saw they had spicy chicken wings on the menu which I love when done properly unfortunately these wings were missing their spice, they were covered in a sticky sauce which didn't have much of a flavor so that was a disappointment, the wings were cooked well, nice and crispy on the outside and soft and juicy inside but €7 for 9 chicken wings is a bit much, looking at the other plates coming out it looked like I made the wrong choice. I may try again but not with the chicken wings.

This restaurant has changed its name to Mintleaf but with the same management and newly decorated interior.
We really enjoyed the food here and would definately come back again!
The place was packed full and a real buzz in the air.. the only fault we found was the very slow service, approx 45min between our starter and main course! However the staff were very apologetic and they seemed understaffed that night.. but their service came with a cheerful face.
Do book in advance!

This cafe has potential to be very good but has some problems which could be addressed.
The obscured glass make it quite unapproachable from the outside - changing these would probably double their business - because if you could see in from the road you might be enticed by the clean atmosphere and pleasant art on the walls.
The food is good - well prepared on the whole (although I have had two very undercooked baked potatoes here) and quite quirky - and in a way, this quirkiness is its downfall. The more simple dishes where they concentrate on flavour and presentation fare better than those where they try to be unusual with a sauce or side and gild the lily.
Having said that, the staff are very accommodating and nice - and try their best to alter dishes to your taste if you request it.

This was our third or fourth visit to this cafe which we found by accident during the summer.
Menu is interesting and decor is lovely, clean and modern. Staff always attentive and helpful.
Had Chicken Caesar Salad and my husband had the beef casserole again!!!
Said still as good as the first time he had it.
No room for dessert but good cappuccino and a nice glass of white wine. Will be back again
