The Forge Restaurant 5.0 star review: We opted for an early bird dinner here and had some terrific food. As well as the listed early bird menu online they have almost as many more available as specials on the night.
I wasn’t sure what to expect with my starter of tian of avocado with garlic and lemon marinated chicken, chilli and lemon grass syrup and rocket salad but it was a delicately spiced & very tasty. The pan fried seatrout, cooked perfectly.
There was monkfish as a special and we asked if it could be cooked differently than what was on offer – no problem – meaty, moist and served with the freshest vegetables.

It is evident through the taste that the freshest produce is used.
Tea/coffee & petit fours served with the set menu at no extra charge – a lovely touch & welcome finish to our meal.
It is obvious why this restaurant has won so many awards.

Pleasant staff, good service, delicious food beautifully presented and competitively priced – we’ll be back.

The Forge Restaurant 5.0 star review: Once you manage to find this restaurant (the directions on its own website are rather misleading and, at the time of our visit, the link to the map was gone) you should have an enjoyable experience. We finally started our meal almost an hour later than intended as 3 of our 4 cars had got lost on their way from Dublin while looking for 'the last roundabout for Cavan on the M3' - the 4th took the road from Carnaross without incident.
The set dinner has a large number of choices and is definitely the best value. Potato skins were a special on the menu and were pronounced delicious by all; I had the chicken and avocado but thought that the flavours would have been improved if the dish was less chilled. Pork stuffed with black pudding was a popular main and pronounced very good while my hake with tomato crumble was excellent. There is an great choice of desserts -our party was happy with them all.
We were all agreed that we would be happy to return - now that we know how to get there!

The Forge Restaurant 4.0 star review: a group of us dined here on saturday,
the salmon and crab was delicious as a starter, i had the goats cheese and carmalised onion, the pastry was a bit too sweet and the onion was a bit sickening for my liking.the prawn starter also was very popular!
our main courses consisted of steaks and lamb, the portions were huge and the quality of the meats was outstanding! we all enjoyed our main courses. we guzzled down beautiful red wine recommended to us. we all shared the baked alaska but didnt care for it too much to be honest way to sweet.
would i came back? i probably would.. the atmosphere was very relaxed and the staff were accomodating and very helpful in our choices of food

The Forge Restaurant 4.0 star review: Good restaurant in a very rural area which is nice, though you need a designated driver. Steak is very good and deserts are always lovely, chips are chunky and double cooked, Yum. Quite large portions, too large I would say. The only problem I would say is the prices. Very expensive for what it is. It's not in Baggot Street, not even in Farrell Street, but charging Dublin prices. If the prices came down (which they could if portion size followed) it wouldn't be far off the 5 for me.

The Forge Restaurant 4.0 star review: I heard many people raving about this place so 4 of us booked in for dinner. I has the monkfish and was a little disappointed in it's bland taste and lack of presentation. Saying that, my friends were all happy with their meals and the whole homemade brown bread was perfection. The staff were very friendly too.

The Forge Restaurant 5.0 star review: This place is excellent.
Went with a large party for the Sunday lunch menu.
Everyone raved about the food, well those that where not to hungover to enjoy it.
Monkfish was tasty as was the pate.
Tried some of the Pork, and Salmon parcel all where delicious. They vary the menu continuously, depending on what is in season.
The staff where pleasant and capable of dealing with all the quirky little requests the 5 pre-teens had. They were also very attentive as there was always jugs of water on the table, but they had the manners to ask before bringing more wine.
If the chef and restaurant was in a city, you would not get a seat for treble the price.
Its a pity more places cannot take as much pride in their food, quality of ingredients and service as the Forge.
My only gripe is the interior is basic, but who really cares when you have such good food.

The Forge Restaurant 4.0 star review: Have eaten here a few times. The food is always good, I'm always stuffed after it. Nice restaurant, with different rooms. Nice atmosphere and good service. Would definitely recommend it. It is quite expensive though

Lamb Cutlets with Garlic, Lemon and Paprika

Why not make up a large quantity of this marinade in advance – it is wonderful with cutlets and would also work well with leg steaks or loin chops. The longer you marinate the meat for, the better the flavour!
