I ate here with my partner on a Wednesday night while we were holidaying in Westport. We were greeted by a charming friendly waitress who served us excellently. We later found out that she and her husband the chef own the restaurant. It was one of the nicest and most relaxing dining experiences I have had. For starters we shared a main course of gnocchi with gorgonzola cheese. The best gnocchi I've ever eaten. Than I had the homemade Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli which was to die for. And I nearly did trying to finish it! The portion was huge. My partner had the Pork Belly (the biggest portion we have ever seen anywhere) wich he thouroughly enjoyed too. A portion of potatoes came with the meal and I was offered a salad with my pasta. We had a bottle of French Languadoc red and enjoyed it so much we ordered another! The value for money and quality is amazing. I'm going to visit Westport again just so I can revisit this restaurant! There is a great sense of friendliness and fun from the minute you walk in the door and with excellent food and great value you couldn't get better anywhere else.

I’ve ate here a few times in the past but my last venture to Sage was Sat 23rd July 2011 as part of a group of 5. The restaurant is located up on high street. Its small but very clean and nicely laid out. It filled up very fast that night so there was a good atmosphere there. The only criticism I would have is that the acoustics could be a little better in dampening the noise levels. We started off with some very fresh and tasty homemade brown bread & butter and we were served our wine which was a French Sauvignon Blanc. The wine was chilled accordingly, crisp with a nice citrus flavour. I had the mushroom soup served with a toasted homemade white bread rubbed in garlic for starters while the others had tiger prawns with chorizo & garlic in white wine and tomato base sauce and crostini which is a somewhat similar to bruschetta with a greater variety of toppings. The portions were large, tasty and my mushroom soup was fabulous. For mains I had the chicken flambéed in Brandy and served with a brandy and cream mushroom sauce. This was accompanied by some roast potatoes and roasted cherry tomatoes. The others had the sirloin steak and ravioli. The steak was ordered rare and cooked perfectly while the ravioli looked very hearty. For desert we simply had one chocolate bomb and 5 spoons! The chocolate was warm but not hot and didn’t have the bitter quality normally associated with a desert that describes itself as “intense dark chocolate”. Never the less it was excellent and we all enjoyed it. To summarise I will defiantly go back there again. The food is fabulous, all their produce is sourced locally and everything is made in the restaurant. Most of all its excellent value. As a Mayo name living in Dublin for a good few years now and suffering Dublin prices, it’s refreshing to come back home and have a superb meal where all the main courses on the al la carte are under 20 Euros (excluding the steak which cost 23 Euros). I would recommend that you try this restaurant.

I ate here a few times. Absolutely delicious fresh seafood. Also, the homemade sage ravioli is divine. Nicest chocolate brownie I have ever had with the perfect gooey centre. Staff are lovely and friendly & go out of their way to make you feel welcome. For example, on one occasion I mentioned it was very warm & the waitress opened the back door to allow more air in. On a separate occasion, she offered us pinot grigio by the glass even though it wasn't on the menu and poured us 2 very generous glasses. I have always had a wonderful evening there.I cant wait to go back the next time I'm in Westport.
