Bar One Gastro Pub 5.0 star review: Just eat here last night. It was very busy for a Tuesday night and there were 8 of us. The manager was very professional and the Shiraz he recommended was absolutely tremendous. We had the Garlic Bread Mozzarella, the Garlic Mushrooms and Chicken wings for starters and there were no complaints about any. For main course we had Penne with Cajun Chicken, 4 steaks, 2 pork and Bassa and smoked haddock wrapped in bacon with a mornay sauce. All were cooked perfectly with plenty of vegetables to accompany our Mains. We didn't have dessert but the coffee was really nice. Bar one is good value for money at Mains starting at €11. I will be back again next time I'm in Castlebar. I'll go with my husband who will try the Dungarvan Helvick Gold Blonde Ale they are now selling.

Bar One Gastro Pub 2.0 star review: Having visited castlebar recently we ventured into bar one for some food i wont be doing that again. While the place was buzzing with regulars for a thursday evening i thought the food must be good, I was very disappointed. My husband ordered a chicken pasta dish that he had to send back it was so spicey. He them ordered the gourmet burger with cheese but when he got it there was no cheese on it and had to ask for some more. I ordered the duck and asked for the skin to be Crispy when it came out it wasnt so i asked the waiter to bring it back and crisp it. Coming for a catering background i was disgusted to see what the chef send back out. They had taken the skin off and deepfried the breast lets just say it wasnt eaten. There was 12 of us in the party and we werent the only ones to send the food back.
