Scholars Townhouse Hotel & Restaurant 5.0 star review: We were six women who had not all met up in MANY years and who decided that a Sunday Lunch together would be a treat. Coming from areas (Dublin and Co Down) north and south we thought the Drogheda area was a suitable location. We were not wrong and found everything about Scholars absolutely perfect.
From the warm welcome on arrival, to the friendly service in the charming small bar area while we waited for the arrival of everyone and on to the dining room for the meal, there was nothing to be faulted.
When I made the reservation I was asked was there a purpose for the outing and as a result we each had a lovely personalised menu at our table.
The presentation and flavour of the food was excellent and the house wine a great (and not expensive) compliment to it.
We stayed for quite a few hours around the dining table finishing the wine and having a coffee and just relaxing and talking. We were under no pressure to move out and felt very comfortable and welcome for the entire visit.
We will definitely use it again because of its convenient location but in particular for the quality of the food and service.

Scholars Townhouse Hotel & Restaurant 5.0 star review: We ate here for our Valentines meal out. The restaurant had a special on and the place was packed out. They had plenty of staff on and the service was very good. I like the way they arranged the tables so you weren't sitting directly next to another twosome and we just had an absolutely brilliant night.

The food was elegant and perfectly cooked the whole way through the meal. We ate venison which was on the Valentines menu and it was just gorgeous.

Very happy with the price, we've paid more money for less and would definitely go to eat in Scholars again.

Scholars Townhouse Hotel & Restaurant 5.0 star review: For our first visit, and a special birthday meal, I booked a table via email and was called back within about 20 minutes to confirm. We had a table booked for 7 pm on a very busy Mother's Day evening. The restaurant was packed. Our order was taken relatively quickly and efficiently, and the order was out in no time. The food was, to say the least, superb. Presentation, flavour all excellent. I always think that if you do not have to put salt or pepper on your meal, that is the measure of a great team cooking your meal. The food was piping hot when it arrived, with suitable time between courses, but not an overly long wait. What amazed us was the efficiency of the entire staff, from front of house (a warm welcome was received there), to the kitchen staff, no one was falling over each other, the food was flying out, and the atmosphere and value for money (€25 for 3 courses) unbeatable. We will definately be back.

Scholars Townhouse Hotel & Restaurant 5.0 star review: I went to Scholars for the first time on Saturday with my partner and I have to say I felt like a princess. The staff were so attentive. The restaurant was warm and cosy. The selection on the menu was wonderful. Everything was cooked to perfection. All of our needs were catered for and the homemade breads were amazing. Overall my visit to Scholars was fantastic. We were really looked after and the food was superb. I will definitely return and recommend to others.

Scholars Townhouse Hotel & Restaurant 1.0 star review: I have to say, after reading the two previous reviews for this place it makes me wonder if this place got a new chef lately. A group of us ate here over the Christmas period and we all agreed that the food was awful and way overpriced. The service was ok until the end of the night when the waitress accused us of not paying enough money. Another waiter backed her up and then it turned out that she didnt count all of the money we gave her. They didnt even apologise, she just turned her back and walked away. All in all a bad steak and a bad expensive experience.
