Left Bank Bar & Restaurant (Dundalk) 4.0 star review: Decided to try this place again as my first impression was not the best. It redeemed itself for sure.
We went for the value menu which was great for that money. Starters were very tasty and mains were just as good.
All finished off with a delicious sticky toffee pudding.
Will be back again!

Left Bank Bar & Restaurant (Dundalk) 1.5 star review: I had heard so much about this place that i couldn't wait to bring my partner. And what a let down. The décor was actually very nice, but when we arrived we had to sit 20 minutes before getting a table, even though there were at least 4 free tables. The waitress (who seemed to be running the show herself) did apologise for the wait, and explained there was no other staff on as they did not expect the large party who were sitting next to us. When we got to the table we again waited 10 minutes for someone to take our order. There was a football match playing at the bar, which was quite close, and the volume was WAY too high. I asked the waitress would it be possible to turn down the volume, which the bar man did do... just a tad! Then the food arrived.... Whatever about my teeth breaking down the stake, my steak knife had a job cutting it up first. Everything else was just bland and un-impressive Honestly I couldn't wait to leave

Left Bank Bar & Restaurant (Dundalk) 5.0 star review: Myself and my partner ate here last Friday evening (not for the first time either). We just love this place. You would hardly notice it from the street, but once you go upstairs, there is a fabulous big restuarant. Some of the seating is open but there are also booths for a more intimate dining experience. Once seated, a basket of fresh homemade bread, which is very hard to resist, is placed on your table (no charge for this). My partner had the Petite (early bird) menu - a great value 3 courses for €17.95. To start, he had baked mushrooms in a bacon and garlic cream sauce, followed by a steak (perfectly cooked) with pepper sauce and chunky chips. I did not feel like 3 courses, so I chose the 8 oz steak burger from the a-la-carte menu (the best burger I have ever had) at €14.95. This was also served with chunky chips. My partner finished off with an apple slice while I had an expresso. Overall, a lovely way to start of the weekend. Food was wonderful as was the service. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant for evening dining and also for lunch, which I have tried on many occasions and is definitely the best value around.
