Jade Garden (Dundalk) 4.0 star review: Our taxi driver recommended this restaurant for dinner as staying overnight in Dundalk. Busy for Saturday evening. Had a delicious meal, ordered Set Menu A, starters were fab, esp like the touch of hot wet towels for after the ribs. Mains were beef and black bean, duck and chicken chilli dishes, all very tender and tasty. My only one criticism is that the waiter was too eager to see if we had finished our mains when there was an untouched main still there! We had to tell him twice. Would highly recommend and will be back.

Jade Garden (Dundalk) 4.0 star review: This is a surprisingly large restaurant, quite deceiving to look at from the outside! It was quite busy, from families to couples, to tables of older (and younger) ladies enjoying a night out. Shared a starter of Satay Chicken skewers but thought the chicken was very tough and chewy, a bit of a disappointment. However the main course was delicious, and the helping was generous. Service was very good and we enjoyed a lovely bottle of red wine. There’s a takeaway service in the Jade Garden but that was at the main door, so diners weren’t aware of people queuing up to collect their meals. Gents toilets were very clean but the hand dryer needs attending to – it wasn’t working. Would go back to this restaurant if ever in Dundalk again, it was good value for money.

Jade Garden (Dundalk) 4.0 star review: It’s a bit hard to peruse a menu before going to a particular restaurant if there’s no menu posted on MenuPages despite the fact that restaurant is listed on the site! Was doing a bit of research before going to Dundalk, and of the three Chinese restaurants listed on the site, none of them had a menu posted and only one had a review done on it. Needles to say, the latter is the one we chose, and it was a good choice. This is a very tastefully decorated restaurant, and diners can enjoy a meal in pleasant, relaxing surroundings. It was busy the night we were there, but that didn’t interfere with the service, which was very good. A refreshing change was the jug of iced water that was brought to our table the minute we were seated. We were also brought a dish of prawn crackers to nibble on whilst deciding on our main meal. I had Crispy Beef with Chilli and Garlic, which was absolutely delicious. One thing I have mentioned before, and which is becoming far too common, and it’s the practice of having to order rice, (or chips), at extra cost, with your meal in a Chinese restaurant. Rice is a staple food in China so I do expect it to be provided with my meal. Having said that, the meal was very good and there was no rush on us to leave the restaurant, we were left to dine at our leisure. I hope the owners of the restaurant read this review and would suggest they consider posting a menu on this site.

Jade Garden (Dundalk) 3.0 star review: Dined here as part of a large group of 16 people. We booked a really long time in advance so we were disappointed to find on the night that we were seated at 2 seperate tables of 8. I have dined here before as part of a large group and never had this experience. We ate from the set menu and while there was no vegetarian option available the staff were accomodating in my requests. The spring rolls were actually quite tasty given that I am not a huge fan in general. For mains I had tofu in the hot sauce with cashew nuts. It was fine, but definitely nothing to rave about. The pavalova at the end saved the day for me even though I am not a dessert person at all, however it was strange that mine it seemed was served with ice cream while everyone else got cream?! Service was ok but the other table were completely finished desserts while ours did not arrive for another good 10 minutes. Also the waitress seemed quite put out when we asked for a seperate drinks bill. I think everyone agreed the food was fine but nothing spectacular. I am not a huge fan of the place and wouldnt be in a hurry to go back.
