4.0 Grainstore @ Darver Castle 4.0 star review:
Ate with a large group here for Sunday lunch. One long table set-up in a side room, which was completely lacking in atmosphere, though when you are in a group you don't notice. Overall everytihng was fairly standard & a bit rough around the edges but good food, good value & good service. No complaints

Beautiful setting, great bar, but nowhere to sit at bar and only enough seats outside bar for a dozen or so people.
When we were seated we were given 2 menus for 6 people, we asked twice for more menus before they appeared. Food was excellent but service was slow between courses.
It was very busy and staff seemed to be running around in circles rather than actually serving. Very disorganised and poorly managed, would go back again but not when its busy.

This is the nicest restaurant and the best value for the quality of food that is put in front of you! There is a lovely relaxed athmosphere in the restaurant and it is a homely feel to it. The food is soo soo tasty, I had garlic mushrooms for starter, Striploin steak with honeyroast veg and dessert sticky toffee pudding, all was soo yummy. You get loads of veg and they are the tastiest honeyroast veg. This is all for €25 a head! You will not leave the restaurant feeling hungry. We go here a lot because of the food and service

Myself and my partner ate here last Saturday night (not for the first time) and, as usual, the food was absolutely fantastic and lots of it. We have dined here quite a number of times as the 4 course menu for €25.00, 7 days a week, is great value. I never even look at the a la carte as there is such a great variety on the set menu. I had the Darver smokie to start (smoked fish in a creamy sauce) followed by the beef strogonoff (melt in the mouth beef). Himself had the garlic mushrooms followed by the duck, which he said was done just perfect. For dessert, we had fresh fruit pavlova and sticky toffee pudding followed by coffee, but by this stage, we were not fit to move. The restaurant was almost full, so I would advise booking. A man with a guitar started playing just after 9.30, which was nice in the background. I would thoroughly recommend Darver for a Saturday night meal. My only fault (and it's a small one) was that while the staff are very pleasant and efficient, I would like to have a bit more time between courses.

3.5 Grainstore @ Darver Castle 3.5 star review:
I was curious about this place and had heard they did great steaks so decided to give it a go. They have a special set menu and al la carte so lots of choice, depending on your budget. The food was good and the portions adequate. However although the meal was fine, I dont feel I would go out of my way to go back there. It was similar to any other middle of the road restaurants I have been to in the area.

We managed to get a last minute booking here on Saturday night, which was lucky as the restaurant filled up! We ate off the set menu. Everything was great, i had the vegetarian options and himself the chicken wings and steak. Desserts were very nice too!!! Service was good and despite being a busy night, there was no rushing us from our table!!!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Grainstore. The girls could be a little friendlier, and also they sometimes strike me, as if they dont know what they are doing, looking a little bemused when you ask about wines or specials. Other than that food atmosphere and value are great.

I have been to Darver a few times now and I couldn't recommend it highly enough. The atmosphere is nice, with plenty of room between the tables. The menu is excellent with a wide range of choices and on a Wednesday and Thursday night they have a special offer of two three course meals for €50. I would recommend the beef wellington and the rosemary potatoes - my mouth is watering even thinking about them. The helpings are very large, so three courses can be hard to get in and sometimes the waiters are a little gruff. Despite that, it is a nice place to go in a small group or a large crowd.
