Cluskey's Restaurant 4.0 star review: Visited this restaurant on a Sunday Evening at around 7pm. When we arrived it was very busy and we had to wait on a table. When we got our table (about 15 mins later) we were given the menus but our order was not taken for another hour. The food was lovely, two of us had scampi and one had fillet steak. We had onion rings and chips which were all lovely. The only negative was the long wait which was due to the large number of people eating and there didnt seem to be enough staff to cope. The staff were friendly and apologised for the delay. We will definately be returning here.

Cluskey's Restaurant 3.5 star review: Visited here last Saturday night with my partner as I had heard reports that there was a new chef in residence and that the food was good. When we arrived, the only other people in the restaurant was a large group with a number of small children running about and making a lot of noise. We asked if we could relocate to the bar/lounge area and this was not a problem. This area was lovely with a number of other people also dining. We were able to pick between the bar menu and the a la carte menu, so my partner had a starter of slow roasted pork belly from the a la carte and the mixed grill from the bar menu, both of which he was very pleased with. I had the escalope of chicken in a mushroom and brandy sauce from the a la carte, which was tasty, but not remarkable. In fact, it tasted like a carbonara sauce because it had bacon bits. They were served with a choice of potato, so we chose the hand cut chips and they were lovely. Deserts, pavlova and apple crumble, were nice. Overall, it was good value for money, but there was no feel good factor, and apart from the friendly barman, I did not feel welcomed or valued as a customer. I doubt I will return as there are a lot of other establishments in the area serving great food coupled with great service.

Cluskey's Restaurant 4.0 star review: Very nice restaurant with a wonderful ambiance. We were however very disappointed with the starters and desserts. The soup was very basic, tasteless and served with inedible bread. The desserts were poorly prepared and lacked both freshness and flavour. We thoroughly enjoyed the main course its just a shame the desserts were very unsatisfactory.

Cluskey's Restaurant 4.0 star review: Cluskey's is a great place for lunch with the family - they serve proper Sunday dinner in generous portions. The staff are friendly and accommodating too. Worth the journey out of Dundalk.

Cluskey's Restaurant 4.0 star review: I am very surprised at the previous reviewer's comments. We eat in Cluskeys regularly and think that it is a great family restaurant. The food is really good and great value. Sunday lunch at Cluskeys can't be beaten - you never have to wait too long and the qualiy of the food is really good. The service is very friendly and efficient. The waitresses are always welcoming and the atmosphere is friendly. The bar is cosy with a big fire and we have never had to wait to be served. The Chicken Sandyman is really good as are the steaks.

Cluskey's Restaurant 1.5 star review: Myself and two friends were in Cluskey's last night for something to eat and I have to say we were all disappointed in what we received. When we arrived we had to wait which was no problem however it was a struggle to get a drink in the waiting area. We waited over half an hour before anyone took our order then we had our order taken in the bar almost as if it was a struggle. When we were invited into the dining room a table was pointed to us and we sorted ourselves out. The starters arrived and while they were nice the service left a lot to be desired, the waitress checked on tables around us but no one asked were we ok for everything. The main course arrived and while two of them were delicious one was not what we had expected when we ordered. The deserts were also disappointing. My friend ordered chocolate cake with cream and when it arrived there was ice cream on the plate, which she doesn't like however she was not given a choice, the second desert ordered was a sticky toffee pudding which looked like it had a watered down caramel sauce poured over it. All in all very disappointing.

Lamb Cutlets with Garlic, Lemon and Paprika

Why not make up a large quantity of this marinade in advance – it is wonderful with cutlets and would also work well with leg steaks or loin chops. The longer you marinate the meat for, the better the flavour!
