Schooners @ McKevitts Village Hotel 4.5 star review: Had dinner here one Saturday recently. The food was very very good - flavoursome, cooked perfectly and well presented. We ordered mussels, chowder, the Mexican medley and a cheeseboard - cannot fault any of it.

Staff friendly and helpful. Nice atmosphere. There are many places to eat in Carlingford - I would recommend this place highly.

Schooners @ McKevitts Village Hotel 0.5 star review: Went here for a late lunch on Easter Sunday at 3:30pm. It was the worst restaurant experience I've had in a very long time! The restaurant wasn't very busy - it was obvious that the main lunchtime rush was over. We sat at a table that needed to be cleaned for a very long time waiting for someone to come over. We eventually went to the bar to ask for menus and the table to be cleaned. An extremely rude and surly waitress came over to clear the table. After waiting again for ages to place our order, and the waitress walking past and seeming to deliberately ignore us, we finally got to place our order. We had to ask 3 times before our drinks arrived, and that only happened when I went to the bar again to ask for them. My food was really not nice - vegetable curry with very soggy vegetables and a poppadom that was inedible as it was swimming in oil. Again, it took ages to be brought our bill. It wasn't cheap either. Around €30 for 2 mains, a lot of which weren't eaten. Would definitely never go back!

Schooners @ McKevitts Village Hotel 4.0 star review: Two simple truths about Schooners: 1)sublime oysters! 2) sublime chowder!
Worth trying them out for these two things alone I reckon.

Schooners @ McKevitts Village Hotel 5.0 star review: The festival was on and my husband, our 14 month old, my sister and her partner and me headed in to hotel for a bite of lunch. there were 3 menu's Sunday lunch, the restaurant and there was a special 3 course for 25.
my sister had scampi & chips, her partner had steak and chips and my husband and i opted for the special menu he had ceasar salad then steak - i had soup then veggie lasagne, Junior had a mountain of chips. It was very busy but we were served straight away and it was lovely to be out with the baby and not have people staring at us(he loves to talk to all) Everything was lovely too much chips though felt it was a waste but better too many than not enough. Definately heading back

Schooners @ McKevitts Village Hotel 4.5 star review: Had a Saturday night Dinner here while on a weekend away in Carlingford. I had the Mc Kevitts chicken with salad and chips and my boyfriend had the sirolin steak and chips with garlic bhutter and pepper sauce. The chicken was really tasty, it was in a cherry tomato and basil sauce, topped with fresh mozzarella and parmesan cheese. That came with a really simple, but lovely salad and delicious homemade chunky chips. The steak was boyfirend had was propably the best steak I have ever tyasted. It melted in my mouth. The garlic butter on the side as well as the pepper sauce really made it. Fantastic steak! We both shared a bottle of wine, wine was very good indeed. I was a bit put off by the prices listed outside but you really do get what you pay for, well worth a visit. Salad and chips are really big so a strater is 100% not necessary!

Schooners @ McKevitts Village Hotel 3.5 star review: Arrived in for lunch, wanted to watch the rugby game so we just stayed here... We were served lunch in the bar, from the restaurant menu, I started with the goats cheese tartlet, which was nice enough and then had Scampi & chips, which were just ok... the scampi was a bit soggy and the chips not great. The side salad had orange and pineapple in it and was just not my thing at all. My boyfriend had the goats cheese too, and a steak. Again, it was grand, but nothing to write home about. with one expresso and a pint and a glass of wine, the bill was E70 odd, minus tip - I didn't think it was worth it at all, the quality of the food wasn't great. Not a great atmosphere either, though, the restaurant may have been better.

Schooners @ McKevitts Village Hotel 3.0 star review: Had pub lunch in the bar of this hotel. While service was lacking and had to sit at a dirty table, the food was very good and plenty of it. Good value for money also.
