Booked a hen party for 20 people for this restaurant. We were given our room which was a great idea as we felt we weren't interfering with any other diners. We had the set menu for €40 which had a great choice of three starters, main course and desserts. I found the waitress staff very friendly, helpful and over all very efficient. We were given free reign to decorate the room how we liked. The food was delicious and all the ladies at the dinner were very complimentary of my choice of restaurant. I don't have any faults and would happily return to the restaurant again and recommend it all my friends.

On Saturday night a group of us booked a meal on the recommendation of a friend who was local to the area (Who was actually with us as it happens). I can’t comment on the food as we never got that far due to the rude, unprofessional attitude we were met with on our arrival. Firstly the waitress complained to us about how slow the party before us were (first sign of what was to come) She then while taking our drinks orders could not tell us what drinks they carried and seemed very disinterested in finding out! As one of us was vegetarian she reluctantly enquired what the vegetarian option was and then proceeded to tell us that this should have been ordered at the time of reservation (strange in itself) but when we informed her that actually we did enquire about a vegetarian option when booking she was very rude about it and implied that we the customers were at fault as they had no record of this. I can honestly say I have never came across a more un-professional attitude in my life, we did eventually get a half hearted apology but at that stage we were all so infuriated we decided to leave, no apology was given to us and we were still charged for the drinks and ignored as we left. Apparently the restaurant had received a big party late which is the excuse given for their attitude but if they are unable to cope with a big booking and still treat other customers in a polite and mannerly fashion then possibly they should re-think the volume of bookings they take. I don’t like giving such a bad review but I have also never felt the need to leave a restaurant before so I think I am justified in this review. The food other customers were having looked lovely but unfortuately we never got to find out how nice it was!

The Bay Tree was charming and authentic, and had all the charm of a quaint Irish town without being twee. The service was a little slow but very friendly. We had the usual full Irish breakfast and a variation of same. Everything arrived hot and at the same time most importantly. The food was cooked well and the portions reasonable with top ups of toast and tea provided. There was also a small table of continental accoutrements but which we didn't indulge in but this probably explains the initial delay in service.
