Nice food, good service, generous helpings. Went here on a Friday evening, it was quiet but there was still a bit of atmosphere in the restaurant which adjoins the pub. The hostess was very generous in giving us extra portions of side dishes - onion rings, garlic potatoes, chips - all free, but too much for us to eat. Don't know if this was because it was a quiet night ot if it's the norm but it was a nice gesture. We had the chicken wings for starters, there was enough there to share between two. For main, I had the fillet beef noodles. It was a beautiful, tasty dish, understated on the menu. The meat was real fillet, nice and tender and I asked to have it without veg and it came as ordered. The missus had a thai red curry with potato and spinach, which was tasty but wasn't an authentic thai curry. The portions were very generous so we were too full to have desserts. However, we were left to finish our wine at our leisure and were the last to leave the restaurant. A nice casual place, we enjoyed it.

Called in for some bar food with my partner last Saturday evening. We have eaten in the bar a good few times and have never been disappointed. We were lucky to get a seat as the place was packed and Carlingford itself was buzzing. Great atmosphere. There is a great team working here that never appear to be under pressure no matter how busy it gets. I have never eaten in the restaurant as I like the relaxed atmosphere in the bar and there is usually music at the weekend. I would recommend the oysters, mornay style, they are to die for!

Had lunch here with my boyfriend. We both had a toastie and sharded a basket of chips. The toasties were great value, €4.50 for toastie with as many toppings as you like and a lovely side salad of coleslaw, tomatoe, lettuce and onion. I had ham, chicken, stuffing, tomatoe, cheese and onion in mine - it was grade A! Chips were a little undercooked but lovely and chunky. Proper homemade chips! The atmosphere is pretty awful in there though, we literally ate and left. It's very small and we felt like we had to whisper, Id say its a 'locals' pub. There was an old movie on in the corner which is all ou could hear. Music would be better. I would definitely pop in to eat if I were around there for a lunch again as the food and service was very good!
