I was very disappointed with my recent visit to the Black Olive!!
I was there a year ago and the food was very nice, some might say homely.
This visit was much like recent visits, very poor and shows the lack of preparation in the food.
The idea of an open plan kitchen is to see nice food being cooked. We seen the chef taking sauces out of a plastic container from the microwave. When the staff was questioned as to whether the veg was microwaved, her simple answer was that it takes too long to cook fresh.
My question is how long does it take to cook up some green beans?
We then saw cobwebs over our head which topped of the visit.
I think this kitchen needs a good dose of Gordon Ramsey's kitchen nightmares.
The chicken was leathery to say the least and was obviously microwaved which resembled all the other food we have got there recently.
All in all very disappointing and over €25 euro is not cheap for cat food like food!!!!

I stopped here for dinner when passing through Longford, knowing nothing about it. I was pleasantly surprised. The service was great - the waitresses were all very friendly and attentive. I had soup of the day for starters (courgette and spinach) which was delicious. I had the duck for mains, which came with red cabbage, and i also ordered a side of veg. There was a lot of duck so i struggled to finish it - but it was really good.
