I have previously reviewed this restaurant, but after my most recent visit last Saturday I felt the need to review it again. The service was absolutely terrible. My husband dropped me off to relax there for an hour or so while he did the shopping. After having had breakfast, and having been there for half an hour, I was asked to leave, extremely rudely. The waitress told me that she needed the table. At this point, one family had just arrived at the door - there was no queue apart from them. I refused to leave, given that I was paying for a breakfast, and that I had only been there for such a short time. Then, at least four members of staff repeatedly came and stared over at my table in an attempt to get me to leave. When my husband came to pick me up, I found the manager and complained to her. She was exceptionally rude to me,and it turned out that she was the one who had been directing all the staff to do and say various things to get me to leave. I felt so stressed and angry leaving the cafe, the exact opposite to what I believe a cafe experience on a Saturday should be. I will not be back without an apology from the owners which I am in the process of seeking.

The 'fresh chunky chips' felt like very average, run of the mill, bought in-frozen chips...My BLT couldn't be faulted though. Nice salad, but like other reviews have mentioned, a little untidy perhaps. This place really needs to be good, for the sake of the locals, as its the only choice in the area...

Although I was originally very impressed with Douglas and Kaldi, (and I would still praise the others in the chain in Dundrum and Ongar), this restaurant has gone downhill over the last while. As others have mentioned, the standard of service is largely dependent on the presence of the owner. The food is excellent on the right day, but unfortunately, you can't predict the right days! The brunches are definitely the highlight, though coffee and a cake is also generally to a high standard, provided you don't mind the often dirty tables and floors. Really disappointed that things have taken this turn as the Ashtown branch used to be one of my favourite places to have dinner in the area, and particularly when service and cleanliness are easy enough to control!
