2.5 Courtenay Lodge Hotel 2.5 star review:
Absolutely mind blowing how a Chicken goujon can be so tasteless and greasy.
The chips are bogstandard oily cheap-ass canteen chips
A scrappy bit of rotting lettuce on the side of the plate.
Gross, couldn't eat it.
Lovely staff.
To be fair some Irish and British people will find this sort of food perfectly normal and good- That's what we're dealing with!

4.5 Courtenay Lodge Hotel 4.5 star review:
Had a late lunch here on Monday when passing through the area. The service was good, food nice and athmosphere pleasant with a nice buzz in Harrys bar and Bistro.
We both went for the burger with chips and salad for 9.95, it was a large homemade burger, very tasty and cooked to perfection. The menu had some great choices and prices were good. Great place to stop when on the main road with lots of parking right outside the door. Just what we needed here.

We had a selection of starters (Chicken goujons, fried Brie, acesrer salas) - all of which were nicely cooked and presented. I had a main course of pasta Carbonara. Excellent!
This is an ideal spot for a quick bite while travelling. Good straightforward food, quick service and good value

4.0 Courtenay Lodge Hotel 4.0 star review:
The bar/restaurant has been recently revamped and is looking very smart and is very comfortable. We were given our menus promptly and served our drinks. The staff were knowledgeable about the menu and keen to point out that it had some new additions such as an extensive pizza menu and new main courses.
I had the calamari to start and my friend had the chicken goujons. both were delicious and served in a lovely tempura batter. we had fish/chips for mains and a pasta dish and again both were very tasty and nicely presented. We enjoyed a bottle of wine and thought all the wine list was good value. We also managed to squeeze in vey nice lemon meringue pie to finish. We had a lovely eve. the service was prompt and friendly, the surroundings are colourful but relaxing and we had plenty of room at our table. It was a very pleasant eve that was good value and I will definitely be back again.

The food here is just OK - somewhere to eat if you have to but wouldn't go out of my way to get there. There are definitely better spots in Newcastle West.

Bad food (it was practically cold when we finally got it), bad service, unfriendly staff. Avoid.
