I gave a low score for value for money, we ordered a meat platter for 2, and it was beautifully presented, but at a price of near E16, was a big let down, as the amount on the plate was very very small. Also the portions of rice could be bigger. I would definitely return as the food was amazing and the service excellent, however i wouldn't order a starter, as the price is very high for such small portions.

overpriced . if your gonna go head for the early bird. i ve been to india and this place just caters for the laois man whose spice intolerant. service is good. all dishes are blended to baby food and a jalfrezi looks like a saag and so on. nice ambience though. have been here an got take away maybe 10 times in total. trust me. average joes.

Best Indian I've eaten in anywhere. Can be quite midweek (but what restaurant isn't nowadays), that's why I gave it a 3 for atmosphere. Myself and my wife eat there often and normally go for the early bird or the gourmet meal for two.Very good value. You get a mixed platter for starter. Yummy. And a good choice for mains. Try the Lamb Madras, it's to die for. Food is always 100%. Service is very good and the two front of house guys are very friendly and helpful and not in your face like some restaurants. If you don't like this Indian people, there's something seriously wrong with you.

We have been there numerous times and love the food. Its exquisite! The only thing I would say is their starters are bad value as you dont get much for the price.Service can be slow sometimes. They frequently offer us a complimentary drink such as baileys after the meal, but I would prefer to get good value in what we order, than receive something free that we dont want. Overall we still love it, as the food is so good, we just dont bother with starters. I would still recommend it.

Was visiting Port Laoise for the weekend & decided we would have an Indian. The staff are very friendly. I was extreamly disappointed in the food & so was my husband. We got the mixed platter for starters it was tiny, 4 items for €8.50 not good value. We let it go & said nothing I got Lamb Biryani & my husband got Jugalbandi. I counted 6 pieces of lamb my husband chicken dish also had very little chicken. We didnt have dessert but did have coffee. I had 2 glassed of wine & my husband had 1 beer. Total with Naan & rice was €78.30 expensive. Wont be going back if ever in Port Laoise again & would not recommend it. Sorry

The management of Mayur has responded to my complaint, they acknowledged the poor service and gave me a gift card to return to the restaurant and have assured me their personal attention if i take up the offer.

4.5 Mayur Restaurant 4.5 star review:
This restaurant does takeaway food as well so for my partners birthday we ordered some food for collection. Staff here are lovely and friendly. When I arrived I was offered tea or coffee as it was so cold out. Service was fast and my food was ready quickly. Unfortunately when we got home we discovered one of the starters missing despite the fact that it had been read back over the phone. It wasn't on the bill though so at least we didn't pay for it. Starters of spinach parcels, spinach fritters and tandoori chicken were delicious. Mains of Balti, Jalfrezi and Goan fish curry were equally good. I would defintely try this place for a sit down meal as if their takeaway is this good you can be such you'll get a lovely meal in house.

This is probably the best indian restaurant in Portlaois! Exceptional food. I tried many of their dishes and never was dissapointed. My favouirte - chicken chetinad is really delicious and so it the chicken korma. I thing some of their starters are rather small for what you pay, but still they are tasty. Staff are really nice! Definitely worth a visit.

Not your standard, one sauce does all, indian restauarant. Head and shoulders above the rest in terms of both the food and the service. Plus they do takeaway which is just as good as the sit down. I've tried most of their dishes at this stage and would highly reccomend the chicken lababdar or a Mayur sizzler. I was in birmingham recently, home of the curry house, and didn't find a restaurant to match this. If you haven't been yet I suggest you try it.
