Lemon Tree Restaurant (Laois) 5.0 star review: This is the best restaurant in Portlaoise, probably the best in the midlands. I have been here many times with my partner and it is always an extremely enjoyable experience. The food is out of this word, Irish haute cuisine at it's best. I would highly recommend the sirloin steak, which they cook to perfection. The mash and champ are seasoned perfectly. The seasonal vegetables are not just a side dish, they complement the main courses so well. It is brilliant value, 2 courses for €25 or 3 courses for €30. They have brought their prices down to this set menu price but the quality has not suffered at all. The goats cheese and potato frittata is heavenly, the pesto dressing really finishes the dish perfectly.. I have had the Lemon Tree caesar salad a few times now, it is quite a big portion but not heavy at all. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody, safe in the knowledge that the menu will suit everyone's tastes. The staff are so friendly and accomodating, the lady who runs the place with her partner is so welcoming. It is quite a small restaurant but I like this, the limited number of tables means a quality of food that will stay in your memory a long, long time.
