we are regular customers of the kingfisher, whenever we are in portlaoise we have to go there we've been going there for over ten years my husband and i bring our children with us now too infact weve celebrated two birthday partys there they are very helpful and friendly, everyone enjoyed it the atmosphere is very relaxed and you feel very comfortable our favourites are the barbeque and the children seem to enjoy chicken korma as its very mild i would definately recommend this to a friend they have won awards nearly single year and i would say to everyone to go there im sure you'll enjoy it like me and my family

I went to the kingfisher with my family and I had high expectations due to the awards the restaurant has received. The food was delicious and the portion sizes were good too. I had aloo tikki for starters and it was really tasty, I tried some of the vegetable samosa and the tikka chicken and they were also really nice. For my mains I had chicken korma which was delicious but my partner had lamb rogan josh which was a little bland (he had asked for extra spice) the bill was very reasonable too, it worked out at 30 euro a head between 6 which included two bottles of wine and beers. The things I found to be disappointing were that we were left waiting a long time before our order was taken, we were never offered dessert menus. They could also improve on the little things like perhaps complimentary mints with the bill just to make the experience extra special. I would recommend this restaurant to a friend as it is quite nice but I don't think I would go back as I have been to other Indian restaurants in the Laois area which exceed this one.

I had lunch here recently, The food was lovely as always (i have often used the take away) There was little or no atmosphere though, The decor is a bit dated,
