av been here on 4 occasions. nice ambience open planned can see ur food been cooked. staff seemed flusterred on all occasions. silly thing s like no salt and pepper on our table on 2 occasions. please chefs learn how to cook a steak! i always ask for it rare when i really want it medium cos it ll be burnt if i ask for it medium. great potentiale but the above always lets the place down plus i personally think tis place is well overpriced. I ve tried this place 4 times now and always annoyed, i aint that picky either.

I went to Kelly’s with 3 other people, the place is great on the inside, they have an open kitchen, you can see from your table what the cookers are doing, it is a bit loud when is busy, so don’t expect a romantic experience during peak times, but expect a great atmosphere when eating with friends and family. The staff is a bit slow, we had to wait over 5 minutes to get our menus, over 10 minutes to get our first drinks, the glasses where empty and I was trying to call a waiter with hand signals for over 5 minutes. This is a bit frustrated, I didn’t go there to park an airplane, I went there to eat. I know if you are going into a restaurant for a good time, you shouldn’t be in a hurry and no being harassed every 5 minutes by the staff, but also, not being ignored, and this is how I felt in Kelly’s Foundry, somehow ignored. The best part is the food, Porlaoise in general have good restaurants, most of them, I supposed it is because we are in a small town within short driving rages to other towns, the level of quality is top notch to keep the locals like myself eating out in Portlaoise. Whatever you order at Kelly’s Foundry will be very god and well presented, the beef is well aged (at least 21 days) I ordered a sirloin steak served in a hot flat pan, they put a herb , some sort of secret ingredient that really made it tasty. I have been there in many occasions and all the food is great, 5 stars in food. The desserts are great too The prices weren’t the cheapest, expect to pay top notch prices for top notch quality.
