I booked a table for my mother's 60th birthday with high hopes as the menu seemed quite good. First impressions were bad as the decor is ridiculous, very oriental, and the restaurant is full of smoke from the kitchen. A comically bad attempt at calligraphy on a chalkboard with glaring spelling mistakes was a highlight. The place was relatively busy, 7pm on a saturday night, but everything was a shambles. We ordered starters and mains and only three of our four starters came out, it was obvious from the delay it hadn't been prepared. My nachos were very disappointing, the other starters seemed ok. My dad and I ordered €25 Aberdeen Angus sirloin steaks and my brother a €21 rib-eye, we were really looking forward to the meal as this is supposed to be a steak house. My steak was to be medium rare with mash, my dad's medium well done with chips. My mother ordered fish. At first they came out with my rare steaks with chips on the side, I explained I had ordered mash. They came back with the three steaks but the two Angus steaks were still with the wrong sides so they brought them back to the kitchen again. We eventually all had our dishes but I was very really, really disappointed with my steak. It was bland and tough. I was hungry but had to add a lot of salt to get any flavour at all. My Dad said his was "ok" but I could tell he was just being polite and only ate about a third of it. He loves steak normally. My brother is convinced that his steak wasn't a ribeye cut at all. He said afterwards it was thin and bland. I'm taking the time to write this review so that people don't waste their money like we did. I would really struggle to mention any positives, the red wine was nice and the large hen party wasn't as rowdy as we expected! This place is well located and if you're really drunk you might not notice how bad it is but otherwise avoid like the plague.

For advertising a restaurant as a steak house you would expect the steak to be at least nice. It was tasteless. The prawns tasted as if were taken straight from the freezer. The only good point was the service, they were very friendly and helpful.

Myself and my partner went to Ripleys on Saturday night. While the food was fine, the staff seemed over busy and disorientated. We were attended by several waiters over the course of the evening, asked if we would like desert on two occasions and after putting a €XX note in the Bill our change was never returned. We had planned to leave a tip but seeing as the waiters didn't return our change we were pretty annoyed as we felt the difference between the bill total and cash we put down was too much for the tip. Didnt complain, although I really wanted to. While the food was fine, we were very very dissappointed with the service and we will not be going back.

I was part of a large group of 9 guys who had a table booked for 8pm. We arrived on time and everything was ready. The staff were great, full of chat and smiles with a prompt service. The food was of a very high standard. I went for an Irish Coffee after (made correctly) instead of a desert and I recommend that as the better option. On our next visit to Kilkenny we will definately visit again. Highly recommended. The Steak Hot Pot was the pick of all our dishes.

8 of us had dinner here about 2 weeks ago. We had heard a lot about the restaurant. We found the steaks to be perfectly to everyone's request. I had the steak fajita tower and it was sumptious. However I would just suggest that the steak be cut in thinner strips to help with the eating of the food. My caesar salad was uneventful and overpriced for what was a very small portion. Will try the restaurant again another time I'm sure.
