The Mill House Restaurant, Kilmacow

he Mill House Restaurant is situated in the Parish of Kilmacow, one mile off the R448 Waterford/Kilkenny road and six miles from Waterford City. It is accessed down a tree-lined cul-de-sac. The House was built circa 1790 as a Mill House for the adjacent Greenville Mill. It was given a complete new front in the late 1800s by Browns the new mill owners and is now a haven of tranquillity set in about two acres of grounds. In 2004, the owner, Kieran Laffan, converted part of the Mill house into an up-market Restaurant which can cater for up to forty places. A new extension was also added with windows on two sides opening on to the Rose Garden, Water Fountain and garden walk. In the winter, the Dining Room has the traditional welcoming open fire. The owner/chef does all the ordering and cooking himself which gives a consistent personal touch. He is the fourth generation of his family to live in this house. It an ideal setting for family groups, christening parties, buffets, Communion, Confirmations etc.

what a gem !!!,,,i was staying with family 5 minutes away,,my aunt took us for lunch and we opted to sit outside in the rare sun !! it is a country house with the resturant to the side,,and a lovely garden,,the lunch menu had some yummy options similer to above,,i was not dissapointed and will be urging my aunt to bring me again,,its a real treat to get fine food at reasonable prices,,there was cesar salad and smoked beef salad ordered for starter,,they were out of crab terrine !!! they were both very tasty,,the only down side was there was far too much sauce on the ceasar salas,,for mains there was duck and fish pie,,,it was altogether a glourious meal, maybe the bit of sun helped, but no ,,down to the choice of fresh bread brought out at the start .To have polite freindly staff was refreshing,,i will surly be going back again,,and worth the turning off the road to get there,,i dont think from ny experience anybody could give a bad review,,well done to all there

Visited the Mill House for the first time. Could not believe that there was going to be a decent restaurant at the end of the cul de sac especially when there was no advertisement on the main road. But there it was housed in a beautiful building with gorgeous gardens. The food was delicious and beautifully cooked. Service was friendly and unfussy. A thouroughly lovely evening. Can't believe I haven't heard about before now. It will be a firm favourite from now on and I will recommend it to friends.

As I was there at a small family get together I found the whole experience fantastic. I eat out several times a month and this is my number 1 restaurant and nothing else will match up to it.
