Canal Walk Cafe 5.0 star review: This is a place you just need to go to. No real point in detailing what we ate, the menu was changing, and choice is limited. This is a different. Like eating at your grannys. If granny is an award winning chef.
The chef in fact is a personable social guy who spoke with us at our table. The food was exciting and adventurous. Service was homely and attentive but not stuffy.
Standards are kept by offering a small innovative menu using the best ingredients. The wine is chosen by someone with a real feel for matching the ingredient to the vine.
Dont be put off by the cafe look of downstairs, the dining room is warm and stylish.
We loved it. Alot. And the vaue for money will have us back soon.

Canal Walk Cafe 5.0 star review: Another lovely evening in the Canal Walk Cafe. The fact that I've been here on many occasions in the last year is testament to the great food, service and atmosphere. This time I had the homemade spaghetti in a cream sauce with cherry tomatoes and courgettes, cooked to perfection, melt in the mouth. For dessert I took the lemon tart. I could smell the delicious aroma before it even got to me, having been just been caramelized. All round delicious and I'll be back again very soon for more.

Canal Walk Cafe 5.0 star review: Visited this great little restaurant on a Saturday night with my partner. We got very warm welcome and lovely table, the restaurant was very well presented - candles, white table cloth, really nice setting.

The menu was excellent. They had a great choice of meat, fish and salad dishes with a French influence. The wine list too was excellent. The service was just right to make this a very enjoyable evening,

We would recommend this place to everyone, we'll definitely come back!

Canal Walk Cafe 5.0 star review: We visited this fabulous little restaurant for the first time on Friday13th. We had a fabulous evening and we will definately be recommending this treasure to our friends and family. We were a party of 6. The food was five star standard.Absolutely superb, with a french kind of flair. The attention to detail was second to none. The staff are extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We were surprised at how spacious the place is and didn't realise they have a newly renovated upstairs section. We will definately return to this GEM...........

Canal Walk Cafe 5.0 star review: If you're looking for a little taste of rural France in Sallins....look no further. This is a cute little bistro which operates as a cafe during the day. It is well worth a visit for its beautiful food, friendly staff and endearing chef. The evening menu is incredible value both for choice and the quality of the food. Our starters and main course were really enjoyable and the dauphinoise potatoes were simply perfect. Unfortunately we had no room for dessert. Small businesses and talented chefs deserve to be supported and the prices and food will hopefully build a solid base of loyal customers in the near future.

Canal Walk Cafe 5.0 star review: A Group of us had a fantastic lunch in the Canal Walk Cafe and we will certainly repeat the experience. The menu is locally sourced, and is very well done indeed. I ordered the Goat's Cheese starter which was delicious and served with style. This was followed by a perfectly done Wild Mushroom Risotto. To finish, their homemade chocolate cake was perfection. The atmosphere in the restaurant is lovely. We all felt like welcome guests to an extremely well-done, reasonably priced, home-cooked meal.
Of note it is a well known face locally that the home-made scones in the Canal Walk Cafe are some of the best around. We duly purchased four scones to take-away with us, and enjoyed them thoroughly.

Canal Walk Cafe 5.0 star review: This is a fantastic little cafe and restaurant. Our party of 4 + baby were seated immediately upstairs in a homely environment. I ordered the wild mushroom starter which was amazing and a had a very tasty steak sandwich with for the main course. I finished with a delicious slice of chocolate cake and coffee. The value in the Canal Walk Cafe is incredible considering the quality of the food. (I'd also recommend buying some of their scones to take-away!)

Canal Walk Cafe 4.0 star review: This was my second time having lunch here. The food is really really tasty. The staff are nice and attentive. It's not too badly priced for the portions and quality.
The only downside is the toilets. They are very dirty and dirty toilets put me off a place. They look like they have never been mopped since I was there last month and had no soap. I don't know if I'd be back because of this.

Canal Walk Cafe 4.5 star review: This restaurant is an absolute gem in Kildare. Its a cosy and comfortable feel while you can taste the homemade ingredients in every course. We booked a table of four friends, enjoyed homemade bread before the starters, I had the mushroom and brioche with pesto which had great flavour. For mains we had the steaks and pork again cooked to perfection. The sauces and vegetables were full of taste. The wine too together with the ambience made you want to stay all evening. Desserts were homemade apple tarte, and bread and butter pudding which were lovely and light in texture. The service was friendly and attentive. Overall attention to detail in this restaurant makes it a gem. Our bill was about Euro160 between 4 and real value for money for what we enjoyed. I'll be a regular here going forward and Im wondering how long this gem will be a best kept secret!

Lamb Cutlets with Garlic, Lemon and Paprika

Why not make up a large quantity of this marinade in advance – it is wonderful with cutlets and would also work well with leg steaks or loin chops. The longer you marinate the meat for, the better the flavour!
