Visited Bon Bon last Wednesday was very impressed, decor very quaint and relaxing, had heard lots about there cakes and traditional sweets sold by the quarter....... My partner had the special soup(butter nut squash and coconut) and the toasted wrap which was served with a lovely side salad and very colourful, both were very tasty and fresh but the soup was amazing probably the best I had tasted in a long time........... I opted for the Goats cheese tart with caramelised onions again served with a large side salad, the tart was obviously home made and was very tasty at 8.50 large portion and value for money......... the highlight came in the form of the home made cakes I opted for carrot cake while my partner had pear and almond tart both were very fresh and tasty, my carrot cake was so moist and the icing divine... found the staff to be very friendly and helpful over heard one explaining there range of gluten free options to an elderly lady and was very knowledgeable and understanding. will def return soon as was so full and content forgot all about getting some sweets to take home.. Definitely a must for anyone in maynooth............

Ate here one Friday late afternoon with a friend. After admiring the place from outside for some time we finally made it inside. The decor is impressive, very quaint and a bit girly which might explain why most of the customers were ladies! It was relatively busy and we were unsure if we should find a table or order at the counter first. fter a minute or two, a staff member told us to find a seat and he'd give us a menu. We found a seat, table was still used from last customer and after maybe 10mins or more and a reminder, we finally managed to get a menu from the staff member. Another 5 or 10 mins later, we caught the staff member to ask him to please take our order! Once we placed it, it arrived in good time. I ordered a chicken and brocolli pie, came with side salad/couscous. My friend ordered a breakfast/brunch panini which came with complimentary tea/coffee. We had to remind the staff member of this. Food was good, tasty but for what it was, I found it a bit expensive overall. Pie (small dish) was 9.50!! My friend said the breakfast was a bit dry and wouln't go for that again. We waited at the counter to pay when we were finished, took ages to be served and when we were, we were over-charged a bit so had to point that out nd be refunded. Overall, it is a nice establishment if a bit crowded for seating space. Food was good, would return again for it but only if prices reduced a bit. Service on this particular day was very poor, everything on the floor seemed very unorganised and as a result, customer satisfaction was affected. Hopefully it was a one-off and I would be willing to try it again but in comparison to the value and quality in other eateries in the town, I'm not sure if I'd be in a hurry.

I have visited Cafe Bon Bon on a few occasions. The interior decor is beautuful - very Cath Kidson/Laura Ashley and very girly :) and a great addition to Maynooth. Great selection of food and everything is homemade and yummy. On my last visit I had the equivilant of their Red Velvet cake and a hot chocolate and both were lovely and the hot chocolate was actually hot (I cant stand luke warm drinks) The only negative I'd say is that it is always busy and sometimes difficult to get a seat. Also it can be drafty when the main door is constantly opening and closing. Not sure if they have a good door closer on this door but maybe that's an idea? The staff and service are excellent and they were keen to get my feedback which is always a good sign. I will be back to try the afternoon tea very soon. Oh and well done on opening on a Sunday! It's one of the few places open in Maynooth on a Sunday.
