Beckett's 2.5 star review: When we were seated, the waiter gave us our menus and told us that the early bird menu was over on the left side of the menu. One of us ordered early bird, one ordered a la carte. We had the salt & chilli prawns which were just deep fried prawns really nothing special, and pate, followed by steak and monkfish which was all fine. When we were given the bill they had charged full price instead of the early bird price which we were told about. Had to ask the waitress 3 times to sort out the bill, to have the automatic service charge whacked on top when you've been overcharged is most annoying. The staff were nice until we tried to get them to sort out the bill, then they were most unhelpful, i doubt that we'll be back here. Pity.

Beckett's 3.5 star review: I was attracted by the set menu price of €27 for a 4 course meal.
Was a little dissappointed to see a €5 surcharge on a steak so I settled on the Duck which had a €2 surcharge. I believe a set menu with a fixed price should be a fixed price regardless. Then to find that there is an additional 10% service charge which was also added on to the couple of bottles of beer I had beforehand (making them €5.51 each) made me feel it was just a little bit deceptive.
On to the food. I had a ham hock terrine & foie gras. It was ok but not very imaginative. My wife and son had caesar salads which had very little chicken and was unspectacular. My duck was very tasty in fairness and wifes Lamb was also very nice. They were served with a boring bowl of vegetables that you would expect in your mothers on a sunday. I feel a little more imagination wouldnt go astray. The cubed fried potatoes were also unspectacular..
For dessert my wife had the chocolate pot. It was like a bar of chocolate melted into a bowl and left to solidify. She struggled to hack it out and gave up. She said it to the waitress who offered something else but by that stage we were finished and she just wanted to go. Other desserts were very nice.
The overall bill meant the service charge amounted to €15. I would never give that much as a tip unless I was completely blown away by the food and service.
Finally I must say the staff were very friendly and helpful and I could have no complaints about the service.
Would I go back? I would if someone else brought me and paid for it ! If it was my choice I wouldnt be too pushed.

Beckett's 5.0 star review: I have dined here on a number of occasions and have always found it to be to a very high standard and my last visit was no exception. From the moment we arrived it was a most pleasant experience. It was a saturday night and we were booked for 8 clock and when we arrived the place was buzzing. We were brought into our table where as always a basket of freshly baked bread was awaiting. To start I had the goats cheese tart and my partner had the tian of crab. They were both extremely well presented and tasted as good as they looked. For my main meal I had an 8oz Fillet of beef cooked to perfection and complemented with wild mushrooms and a brandy and pepper sauce. My partner had the monkfish with linguini of vegetables and lemon cream which was also cooked perfectly. Both main dishes came with potatoes and vegetables of the day. We had a short break after our main course while we pondered whether to have dessert or not but after a peek at the dessert menu I had the creme brulee and my partner had the famous sticky toffee pudding which is the best we ever tasted. We had a taxi booked to take us back to Lucan but we were told that there is live music on saturday nights so we decided to stay. The music was brilliant and it was a great addition to a great night. It good to see a restaurant doing well in such lean times but when you see all Becketts has to offer its no mystery. I am already planning my next visit, with some friends this time, and I know I wont be disappointed. I cant recommend this restaurant enough to anyone who is looking for top class food and service at great value

Beckett's 3.0 star review: On first entering the restaurant I was pleasantly surprised to see how busy it was, for a restaurant that is not on the main street or even off the main street and a drive away from anywhere I thought this must be a great sign of a restaurant doing well in these so called uncertain times. The full restaurant created a warm atmosphere but also added to a overly warm dining room to warm for this diner. Moving on to the food I started with a ham and fois gras terrine, a sirloin steak for mains and meringue to finish. The terrine was very nice, the steak itself was well cooked but was covered with to much sea salt and was basically a steak on a plate with one or two mushrooms and a dried out tomato beside it. I had no complaints about the desert. I was dining in a group so I got to see and hear about my groups experiences. Two of my fellow guests ordered the chicken breast and risotto which i'm told tasted nice but looked very disappointing the chicken was very small and was just sitting on top of some rice but not aborio rice which is used for risotto but long grin rice, a bit of a cheat in my opinion. The meal itself was quite expensive for what it was and there was a 12.5% service charge on top of the final bill. A service charge should be the choice of the diner if they charge a service charge why dont they then charge a "cooking charge" or a "pint pouring" or "adding money on to my bill charge" all I imagine should be included in the ticket. So would I return? not for A La Carte it was just to expensive for what was on offer

Beckett's 3.5 star review: Went here lastnight, there were 4 of us. Didn't think the menu was great, went for Goats cheese starter, was very tasty. Service was very slow, had to wait over an hour for dinner, the waitress apologised twice for the delay, she said the kitchen was very busy. Had Sea Bass for dinner, that was lovely. Veg very bland and boring. Didn't have dessert but tasted my friends chocolate mousse and it was tasteless. We were charged over 26 Euro service charge, madness. Would not return again. Food was good but overpriced. Service was very slow.

Beckett's 4.5 star review: Nice resteraunt. If its busy there is a nice bar you can wait at and its very nice. The food is very nice but very limited to what you can order as it is a set menu.
I would go again with a group of people as it is a resteraunt that people go to for birthdays or any kind of celebration. I wouldn't go with just my partner.

Beckett's 5.0 star review: This place has always been a family favorite. My family go here for Birthdays etc.... I have never once had a bad meal. The service is always great. The staff and managers have it to a T.
This time there was 6 of us. We had a mix of different dishes and we all cleaned the plates. I had the fish cakes to start, cooked perfect and not dripping in grease like some places. I then had what I always have for my main on a Sunday here, the duck and it was perfect as always.Apple pie to finish with 2 black coffees. The place was busy but not over packed. I love the little touches in this place. On the weekend they take your order in the lounge as you have a pre dinner drink.

Great spot, you have to try Sunday lunch here.
