If you live in Kildare and have not been to Brown Bear you should book it now. I cannot find fault with this restaurant. Possibly one of the tastiest meals I've had in some time. A wonderful menu to choose from resulted in wood pidgeon for starters and venison for mains with creme brulee for dessert- everything was exceptional. Service was prompt, attentive without overcrowding and a delightfully warm atmosphere on a chilly January evening. We pushed the boat out a bit, 4 courses for 2 people with wine came to EUR120, well, well worth it- we will be back.

This is a little gem of a place tucked away off the beaten track but its worth the effort of making the trip. Went there with a party of 10 on a Saturday night. The decor is classical & unfussy in both the bar & restaurant. The menu had a decent choice to suit most tastes and the food itself was well presented & executed and most importantly, very tastey. My Crispy Crubeen & Creamed Barley starter priced at only €5 was the highlight for me (I also had the venison for main) and whilst the very thought of pig's feet would put a lot of people off, the meat is off the bone and melted in the mouth. It's a dish that is enough to convert even the most squeamish of eaters if given the chance. Our bill came to approx €42 per head and this included service, 3 courses for most of the table, a few sides and teas/coffees and 1 bottle of wine. Service was polite & efficient and overall The Brown Bear was a very pleasant experience and worthy of a return trip (if only for the Crubeen alone!) in the near future.

Was there with a party of 4 for Sunday lunch. Good selection on lunch menu and well priced. The staff were very friendly and provided excellent service. It was a bit noisy because of the number of children there, but that's to be expected for Sunday lunch. Overall a good experience
