Nice hotel with highly attentive service, good food and not insane money. Stayed 2 nights in the Park, we ate in the dining room the first night. A couple of drinks in the bar while we browsed the menu and selected our dishes. An old world feel. Conducted to the dining room and were seated and attended to by a friendly waitress. As each dish emerged we were brought through a brief presentation of the dish and it's ingredients, nice touch. The food itself was very good, the presentation was of a good standard, I would say verging on Michelin standard. Everything we ate was well seasoned and worked with the ingredients on the plates. We left full and happy and were made feel welcome back in the bar. If you are paying for pampering and general looking after you expect the service to deliver and delight and it did, in abundance. Excellent.

Overall this was a disappointment when we went there for lunch. The dining area for lunch is rather tired and the paintings on the wall rather hard to look but we looked forward to a nice lunch in a hotel which seems to continually garner good reviews. Although the number of diners was low and it was post lunch time the service was appalling.The waitress arrived -handed us the lunch menu and disappeared for quite some time. When we searched the barman took our lunch order and our waitress then re-appeared to take our order. The menu was adequate - calamari- crab cakes- beef salad- ordinary are and when it finally arrived it was quite simply -ordinary e.g. calamari presented huddled together in a small soup bowl with some mayonnaise in a small bowl to accompany it- the other dishes were adequate also. Nothing to actually complain about but nothing to make one return. Now both the barman and the waitress were pleasant and helpful but the length of time between the time we sat down and when we were served was 35 minutes- too much time to contemplate the bad paintings!
