Artisan Restaurant 1.0 star review: Very disappointed by Artisan restaurant. After looking at the menu online and reading to many reviews I had expected much more.

The restaurant was small and almost cramped, we had a window table and we had very little space. There wasn't a great atmosphere in the restaurant either.

The service wasn't great, we were waiting about minutes for our food too arrive and the staff weren't very friendly. I love it when you go in somewhere and the staff are friendly and welcoming, unfortunately for Artisan that wasn't the case.

The food itself wasn't great, certainly not worth what we paid, and we didn't have any drinks, apart from a complimentary jug of water.

We won't be visiting Artisan again and definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone either.

Very very disappointed.

Artisan Restaurant 4.0 star review: What a little gem in the center of all the hustle & bustle, I have been coming to Galway for 12 yrs now and this is the first time i have eating in Artisan and its all thanks to menu pages, Thanks guys!!
The first thing you notice when you arrive at Artisan is the smells its amazing its your pre warning that your about to eat very very well,
We had our sitting at the 9.15 slot but the table wasn't ready when we arrived and we were asked to go downstairs and have a drink now this not a problem for me but you can expect that if your at the later sitting you might be delayed because people just dont want to leave,
The food was excellent although i had an issue with my Dover sole which when mentioned was taking care of straight away and two very nice glasses of wine to compensate for what was nothing really,
What lets Artisan down slightly is the waiting staff are so busy you feel like maybe another one or two of them wouldn't hurt to ease the pressure,
Any way now i know its there i will make sure i visit again and i hope everybody that reads this does to its well worth a go!!

Artisan Restaurant 5.0 star review: Came here with my boyfriend Arthurs day. We are from Dublin and were on hols so we were really looking forward to a nice meal. It was to die for. We arrived in and were seated at the bar. Loveliest staff i have ever encountered. Very efficient as they were busy. Had the nicest white wine i have ever tasted but cannot for the life of me remember the name! It is the quirkiest little place. The candle holders are old wine bottles and there are mad pictures on the wall! But i just loved it, i eat out a lot in Dublin and haven't encountered anything like it. I had the gnocchi as i'm a veggie. Was gorgeous. My boyfriend had fish, and he literally didn't stop going on about how nice it was!Said it was the nicest meal he had ever had (and we eat out A LOT!). Only downside was we didn't have much bread, i love bread and also the table next to us was a liiiitle close for comfort i.e our conversation was very much overheard by the two elderly ladies beside us. However that is to be expected as the restaurant is absolutely tiny, as is part of its charm. Overall i really enjoyed my meal here. And i will most certainly be returning during my next visit to Galway.

Artisan Restaurant 5.0 star review: I dont mark people high in anything unless they deserve it and boy did Artisan deserve it. We went to Artisan based on a recommendation. My only regret is that I dont live in Galway to go there more often. The menu available was as per the website plus daily specials. Too many superb choices. We both started with the crab then I had the lambs neck and my friend the plaice. There was silence as we ate, the food was devine. The wine list was really extensive. Everything about Artisan was amazing from the chilled music, relaxed decor, art on the walls and we very comfortably sat there for several hours eating and chatting and didnt feel anything but welcome. If you havent been... GO and if you dont live in Galway, it really is worth the journey to eat there. Why have I never heard of Artisan before last week ? Maybe it really is Galways best kept secret.

Artisan Restaurant 4.0 star review: My friend and I ate here last night and we thought it was nice. We were really looking forward to it as we had heard good things about it but we felt it didn't live up to our expectations. I have come to the conclusion that you are better off ordering from the main menu rather than the early bird because the early bird is never as nice. Last night I ordered from the early bird and my friend just ordered from the main menu. I had the goats cheese salad which was fine but nothing to get excited about although the candied nuts were lovely. My friend got the chowder which she enjoyed. For mains I tried the seabream fillets on noodles which was lovely but quite a small portion. The other main was the turbot which was well seasoned but the accompaniments that were served with it weren't great. We felt they could have done a bit more with this, maybe serving some potato and veg instead. The dessert plate that came with the early bird menu was very poor. There was no choice and it was definitely not up to the standards you would expect from this class of restaurant. We had a bottle of french white to go with the meal which was fine. The service was good and the waitresses were really nice. Glad we tried it but won't be rushing back.

Artisan Restaurant 3.5 star review: I have eaten here many times and have to say that the food is one of the best standards of food in Galway. The menu's are always carefully put together with seasonal ingredients although not necessarily locally sourced. In saying that, it is also quite heavy on the price and in my opinion is over-priced for what it is. On the other hand they have recently introduced a '2 course for €25' menu which offers very good value and is more imaginative that the usual early bird menus. BE WARNED - this menu finishes at 8pm, although it does not state this anywhere on the menu. In fact last week, we were actually sitting at a table, having shed our coats, hats, scarves etc hung them up, settled at the table and handed menus before we were told that the €25 menu had finished - this was at 8.07pm. We mentioned that this was the reason we had actually entered the restaurant and that the sign was still on the street - to be told that it shouldn't have been. To my utter amazement the waitress refused to give us the €25 menu advertised and didn't seem to care at all when we proceeded to pack up and leave. On further discussion with her I stated that I found it odd how she would rather see 2 regular customers leave than to see what could be done to accommodate us, at which point she duly and firmly passed the blame to her manager who 'told her to do it' although we didn't actually ever get to speak to the manager. I'm disappointed that this restaurant could have such little regard for it's regular customers especially as it was mid-week - I might understand if had it had been a busy Friday/Saturday night.
A disappointing & frustrating experience.

Artisan Restaurant 5.0 star review: What a great little restaurant, this was my second time eating here and the food has been consistently fabulous. The staff are pleasant and attentive, and the atmosphere is lively with people enjoying their food. The menu is I think very well priced for what you get, and the quality of the food. This may be my new favourite restaurant in Galway and look forward to returning on my next visit west.

Artisan Restaurant 5.0 star review: Had an excellent meal here. All dishes were prepared perfectly and presented beautifully. Between the 4 we had the venison tartlet, chowder and a salad as starters. For mains we all had fish including haddock with scallops, sole and monkfish. Finished off with the desert platter and some chocolate fondants. Service was attentive but not intrusive all evening and we relaxed with some cappuccinos afterwards.

The early bird menu looks very good with 3 courses for €25. Otherwise it can be expensive but if you love fish you will love Artisan.

Artisan Restaurant 5.0 star review: Went here with my boyfriend to celebrate our anniversary. Could not fault the place. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were excellent-very knowledgeable about the menu and able to recommend dishes. They have a very extensive wine list and we were spoilt for choice so we got the waitress to recommend one and it went perfectly with the meal. We got a little 2 person table with our own window to look out at the passers-by on Quay Street which was lovely.

Artisan Restaurant 4.0 star review: We have eaten a few time now in artisan and have very little to complain about. The food has always been of a very good standard and the wine list has an excellent choice. Getting a good window seat to watch the world go by also adds to an overall enjoyable experience.
