A lovely pub/bistro in Clifden. The bar is attractive both inside & outside, the staff were friendly & attentive. The food - I ordered a beef & guinness pie which tasted great, and for dessert an apple pie which certainly went down well.

It was a rainy day in Galway when I called into Vaughan's Bar and Bistro in Clifden. The menu is simple and traditional but covers the staples really. The place itself was quite tourist-y but I imagine many of the restaurants in the area are. I believe it is also a B&B so there were mainly tourists eating here. I had the salmon and chips, garlic bread and apple tart with ice cream. My dining companion had the beef and Guinness pie. I wasn't that pushed on the apple tart but that's only because there was little more cinnamon than I would like. The rest of the meal was gorgeous and my companion agreed it was the nicest meal of our long weekend trip to Mayo/Galway. One thing I will say it that when the food came out I thought the plates were quite small however the meal was filling and the apprehension over the plate size was completely unfounded. I would definitely go back if I was in Clifden, very satisfying.
