Avoca Cafés have been a fixture in the Bridgestone 100 Best Restaurants each year since 1997 and they feature in good eating guides everywhere. But we don't need awards to tell us we're doing something right. Gratifyingly, thousands of people pull up a chair with us every week.

Although I love Avoca's food, I do believe that it is too expensive. I feel that they should lower their prices. The food is good quality - nice comfort food and very wholesome.
The service is pretty hasty because the staff working behind the counters are, most of the time, under pressure and rushed off their feet.
This particular Avoca cafe is not one of my favourites as I find the atmosphere is very canteen like. The big open space dining area is very noisy and echoey and doesn't make for relaxing dining.

Four of us had lunch here at the weekend which consisted of soup for two and calamari for two. Mains were antipasti again for two, one burger and pasta of the day. Everyone had desserts, three ice cream with shortbread (and choc flake) and one mousse.
I had forgotten how enormous the portions are here and I should have left out the starter, but saying that the food was delicious and no one had any complaints in that department.
Service is excellent and just happens the way it should without even noticing it.
The atmosphere is lovely here with a great buzz in the place with families out celebrating, and someone will always have a birthday so that gives a nice happy touch.
Two of us shared a bottle of house red
Tempranillo.
Prices are mid range and I think taking everything into consideration it is not overpriced for what you get.

Got the fish pie here today and it was absolutely enormous. Was stuffed! Loads of fish in it and it was good. The room is beautiful, a lovely place to sit and look out at the trees.

4.0 The Egg Cafe (Avoca Rathcoole) 4.0 star review:
The atmosphere in the egg cafe depends on how busy it is when we went it was very quiet as it is a large room. But it is relaxed and informal. Staff are friendly and attentive. We were seated quickly the room is big and open and nicely interior considering it is a cafe at the top of a large store. There are cook books dotted around the place that you can flick through while waiting on your food which is a nice touch. I much prefer the egg cafe to the canteen style cafe across the hall. It has waiter service; the menu is lovely for lunch. Both our dishes were really good quality and tasty. Anytime I have eaten in Avoca I would find it hard to fault the food - prices are mid range but are reflected in the quality and flavours. And I love their chips and I am not a fast food lover. The extras like mini ketchup's in a jar etc separate Avoca from other cafes. This is definitely one for the girls with offers on Prosecco when we were there. Although my boyfriend loved it too - portions sizes also big so you’re sure to be full.

4.5 The Egg Cafe (Avoca Rathcoole) 4.5 star review:
Definitely not a "cheap eats" restaurant as it is advertised on this site but for what you get for your money it is worth every penny. I had the Beef Curry and it was amazing, my sister in law had the Fish Pie and it would easily have fed 2 people. The curry came with 3 ramekins of dips and nuts, salad, garlic naan, tender beef, gorgeous rice with raisins and peaches, my mouth is watering at the tought of it! We had 2 starters, 2 mains, a bottle of house wine and a pitcher of delicious sparkling lemonade, it came to €89 and although it was expensive it was worth every cent!

Hadn't been in here for a long time as I had always found it both expensive, and the choice very limited. But, last Saturday I seccumbed to the aches in my belly and ventured in. On the way up to the restaurant, I wandered through the shop, and have to compliment them on their vast selection of wares. But the main reason for being there was food. I had the soup & for main course, the lamb shank. Both were delicious. I didn't bother with a dessert as they had nothing on their menu which appealed to me. But their prices? WOW, Really, they need to look at these, €5.95 for a bowl of soup is way over the top in my estimation, especially in these times. I give them full marks for service, atmosphere and food, but sadly, for the value, a big ZERO.

Food is very good here and the atmosphere is great. However the price is a big issue. The menu could be considered limited to some also. Try the desert selection for two- heaven! Overall I feel that the prices really do need to looked at- they would get far more business if prices were keener.

Super, super, super. I've been to most Avoca outlets & keep hoping it will be nearly as good as last time (which would be very impressive!) but alack & alas - it gets better every time!
Pear salad starter, Calamari. Burger & Pasta special to follow. Faultless service. Tea & Coffee - all in with the super jug of water that is free. All in for €48. I'd really have paid €60 & still left really happy. Congratulations to each & every person envolved. You have set a new bench mark for yourselves. Thank you for another great experience.

Great service and great food. Myself and the missus both had the fish and chips which were to die for. A huge plate of food. The chips are the best around.
A little expensive but really really nice
