Castello Bruno used to be a favourite of mine being from Castleknock it was the best local restaurant. My last three visits have been the reasons why I won't be going back. Myself and a friend went for food and drinks, waited 45 minutes for our water and wine having asked twice if we could get it. Not one drink and the starter was already finished. My friend and I both ordered the goats cheese salad to start and a bowl of olives. My friends starter simply didn't arrive, the rocket on my salad had gone slimey and the olives were obviously out of a jar you'd buy yourself. She pointed it out to the waiter and just cancelled the starter altogether. Dinner arrived and the pizza was dripping with oil. A whole serviette soaked after dabbing the pizza and lifting up a slice, still dripping. I made a comment about everything upon payment (literally never being one to complain) and not even an apology. It's actually such a shame as I used to love this restaurant but I felt so strongly about it I had to write this. Maybe it will make a difference.

I ate her last night with 3 friends. The food was nice & the staff were friendly. However, one of my friends ordered a dessert which never arrived and yet appeared on the bill. There were no problems sorting the bill out minus the dessert but on a Tuesday evening I wouldn't expect staff to forget that somebody had ordered a dessert!

I have been here a few times and the services is always great. The waiters are so friendly and the food is fab! Great Casual Dining especially on a sunny day out on the terrace! last time I was here was July 2016 just grabbing a pizza for lunch with my niece on a sunny day, the service and food did not disappoint! Great Place!

Why is it always so cold in this restaurant - most customers wearing coats while eating their meals !!!!!

This is a very good value trattoria. We have had both lunch and dinner on a few occasions here, and the quality is very consistent. It is not five star, but is a good honest trattoria style place, serving standard but decent quality dishes. On a sunny day it's really nice to eat out on the patio. Will definitely be back again.

Had a lovely family meal here, decent kids choices which both my children enjoyed, they've asked many times when we could go back! I had a v nice pizza and my husband enjoyed chicken with mushroom/wine/cream sauce. I had an expresso martini instead of dessert that was perfect. All in all an enjoyable experience

I have been here before and had a better experience. I'm was disappointed this time. On the same note, I completely understand how difficult it is to run a place like this so allowances have to be made for what seems to be a very tired owner/manager, mistakes on the bill, not checking back on the table, delays and a rather tasteless pizza that despite putting salt on it ( I NEVER season food that should already be great) and chilli oil that had not even a tiny hint of chilli in it and seems to be some cheap vegetable oil topped into a bottle with flakes that I am guessing have been in there for quite some time. Having worked in the industry for a long time and a lover of great food, I'm probably a little more observant than most. I might go back, but probably not

Popped in for a last minute lunch and was accomodated. Was seated in the cubicles near the bar area but this is more like a coffee shop seating. Had seen prawn salad previously on the menu but didn't have it but accomodated me to prepare this when I enquired. Cappuccino after was not great - bit watery and I think you can always tell by the foam/chocolate on top if it comes from a "press button" machine or a proper coffee "bang bang" machine. This was a button machine for sure. Staff were friendly enough but busy so a bit rushed with the order taking etc and a few more smiles would have been nice. Overall fine for a lunch time experience. Can get very noisy in the evenings as many people seem to bring kids a lot and the acoustics doesn't seem to suit lots of kiddy noises.

Booked table for 8 for family event. Everyone enjoyed their meals, mine was a little bit average. Place was really buzzing for Sunday evening (c. 7pm) - service was a little bit disorganised. Good value overall and would return for something similar.

Warning to all that may buy D 15 vouchers  for family or friends!nnI was out at Castello Bruno with my family on Sunday 06/09/15 with a voucher for D15 restaurants,nnThe voucher was for €50 and after our meal when paying the new waiter or bar manager says they cannot give change as the till will not add up correctly at the end of the night… nnThe change was only €4 . they said instead I could have a bottle of 7 up to go for the kids  or a coffee! nnThe manager/ bar manager  then went on to say how 2 customer were advised by him when paying not to use their voucher for the €50 when there bill came to €38 as they also would not have got change and advised maybe to use the €50 voucher for the steak on hot stone deal in another D15 participating  restaurant (Brownes steakhouse restaurant).nnI feel this is unfair and a cheap way of scrounging  every cent from the customers.nnRepeat business is vital for these restaurants and they should be trying to keep the customer retouring  and making them feel like they are valued. nnI got a feeling that Castello Bruno would prefer cash and you use the vouchers somewhere else!nnRegards nnAngry dad diner!nn n

Visited Castello Bruno yesterday evening at approx 6pm, We hadnt booked a table but we were given one straight away by the very friendly waitress, skipped starters although there was some nice options to choose from, for mains I had the Lasagne and my friend had the Ham/Pineapple Pizza, we were both very happy with our choices, the lasagne was very tasty and the pizza was a good large size. For dessert we both had the Oreo Pie/Cheesecake which we couldnt finish but would highly recommend, we both had herbal teas and we were full to the brim by the end. The staff were absolutely on the ball, very friendly and we both left very happy. This place is definitely worth a visit.

Stopped here for bite to eat on 23rd May. Hadn't been before. We got a table and were seated quickly. Drinks arrived after starters with an apology. Food was just ok. We laughed when one of our starters -garlic mushrooms, arrived as there were three (3) mushrooms on the plate. For €7.95 that's a major rip off. The steak in the steak ciabatta -main was quite chewy. We couldn't understand how busy the place was. We won't be back.

My two friends and I went for dinner. I haven't eaten there in years as the last few times I had eaten there it was very poor. Well guess what? It has gotten even worse... We had 2 starters between the 3 of us and they were fine. We had ordered 3 pasta dishes and when they arrived, 2 of them were stone cold. We sent them back and waited another 5 or so minutes before the replacements came. When I tasted mine - pasta with salmon - it tasted of nothing but boiled pasta with a few pieces of salmon. The pasta obviously had been boiled in water without any salt and was bland. There was no taste off the sauce. I took the plate up to the waitress and asked her to taste it and tell me what she thought of it. She agreed it was tasteless. She called the Manager and I again got her to taste it. Same reaction. I told her the days of accepting sub standard food is over and the chef should be ashamed to serve such awful food. I was given the option to change my dish and I did. I went for the Italian burger and chips. Meanwhile both my dinner companions were eating their meals. By the time my second replacement was served, they had finished eating. The final nail in the coffin was when we asked for the bill, we were neither offered a complimentary drink, dessert or given any discount on the bill. The only thing this restaurant has going for it is it's location. Management need to take a hard look at both it's kitchen and floor staff. Appalling.

Went there for a quick lunch and wanted to try the restaurant. We ordered pizza's and Carbonara Pasta. It was average, not the best around. Service was okay, it was quiet that afternoon too. Overall, it was just 'okay' we're not hurrying to go back there so soon.
