Castello Bruno 5.0 star review: The food here is fantastic!! When you think of a the great value deal: Pizza and Pasta for €10 Mon-Thurs, you might think you will get hurried service or mediocre food, but you get neither. The food is amazing and the staff are all very friendly and attentive. I really enjoy this restaurant!

Castello Bruno 0.0.0 star review: We booked table for 5, a meal for my husbands birthday. We had been before, but only 4 of us. It's a very busy resaurant but we all love Italian food and the food is good. We were seated in a booth for 4 people and a chair put at end of table , which was quite obviously going to be in the way , with the waiting staff going by, one waitress moved the chair before my son even sat down. We asked for another table for 5 but was told they always have 5 at those tables. The member of staff we spoke to ( maybe manager?) was not very nice about it, his attitude seem to be we should just put up or go. We did leave and won't be going back again and won't be recommending it to anyone. Went to another Castleknock resaurant and had really nice meal, and lovely staff, so so different to Castello Bruno.

Castello Bruno 1.0 star review: I visited Castello Bruno for the first time with my friend last night. To say it was a dissapointing experience is putting it mildly.
I booked during the day when I called in person a table for 2 and when I arrived in the evening there was no booking???
We got a table in a booth by the window and the one thing that struck me was the incredible noise coming from the speakings above our head, it was distorted dance music or it was possibly a radio station....right in my eyeline was a big wide screen television that had a very bad flicker. We thought we had walked into some trashy sports bar to be honest instead of the "relaxing and comfortable" restaurant it advertises itself to be.
I asked for the television to be please turned off which in was after sometime.
We ordered the garlic bread and stuffed mushrooms as starters and were pretty horrified when the Mushrooms were presented to us as there was only 3 mushrooms on the plate with the tiniest decoration of a lettuce leaf and tomato beside it.....These mushrooms were costing us €8...yes.... €8!!??
We laughed for a minute and then stared in disbelief....my friend took photos!
I called the waiter over and I asked what was the story....she said that "Oh but these are very good mushrooms!"......They looked and tasted like ordinary Irish Mushrooms....after I complained they gave 3 more mushrooms.......After the starter shock we ordered the mains. I had seafood pasta and my friend had chicken....both dishes had been sitting under the hot light for some time as they were very dried out. We had a bottle of house red and it was drinkable.

We left feeling slightly bemused and depressed by the Bill of almost €80 for 2 and for the most expensive mushrooms in Dublin by far.

I really feel that in this time when money is tight and most people like to spend or can only afford to spend on special occassions, that this restaurant is taking the proverbials out of its customers and needs to get a grip on itself.

Castello Bruno 4.0 star review: Had a late Friday lunch with hubby at Castello Bruno a few weeks ago. We ordered bruscetta and fish cakes to start. Bruscetta was fine...garlicy but a little on the soggy for my liking. Fish cakes were mostly potato and not much in the line of fish inside. For mains, I ordered the Sicilian pasta and hubby ordered seafood pasta dish. Sauce on my pasta was nice, nothing to write home about. Plenty of shellfish in hubbys dish. Pasta was not served al dente. Overall a good experience but not the best Italian meal i've ever tasted.

Castello Bruno 5.0 star review: Went for a family dinner to Castello Bruno and had such a lovely evening. It was a double celebration, my elderly Mother's birthday and also exam results. I rang ahead and asked could I bring two cakes and this was no problem. When we arrived the staff were nice, friendly and efficient. We all had various starters (tiger prawns, pate, bruschetta all of which were delicious. Had pizzas, pastas and one chicken dish for mains and again all the food was lovely. The Manager then brought out the birthday cake and sang happy birthday to my Mother (which she loved) and then brought out the second cake. He then sliced up the cake in eight pieces which we had for deserts with piping hot coffees. Overall we all agreed that the staff made our dinner extra special and the atmosphere, food and value for money was quite impressive. Well done Castello Bruno, looking forward to our next visit.

Castello Bruno 1.0 star review: Spoke too soon in my last review..

Decided to treat ourselves to breakfast last week. We actually went on the Friday 08/06 and I ordered the eggs benedict (decided the gluten intolerance symptoms would be worth it). Have to say best eggs benedict I have ever tasted so delicious.

The food was so good we went back the very next day for breakfast... Now just a side note these breakfasts aren't by any means cheap. The first day knocked us back €26 and the Saturday approx the same.
Firstly we were seated & we had a look at the menu & quickly closed our menu as we were starving & knew what we wanted. A couple walked in & sat down at this point & to our amazement were served before us??? And consequently got their food before us.

I ordered the same eggs benedict but to my demise there was little to no hollandaise sauce & the eggs were on a cut out PIECE OF BREAD approx 3cm in diameter. Yes you read correctly. The first morning my eggs benedict came on delicious American muffins which would be expected as it is considered a "chef special" & at €8 a pop I'm wondering what I actually paid for. The flavour was ruined for me & I was entirely disappointed. I pointed out my disappointment to the waitress who spoke to the chef & returned & said she is not sure why the food was sent out like that & it was a mistake. (me thinks it was moreso a case of .. Ah silly Irish eegits don't know what eggs benedict are & they'll eat anything).

Well I have to say after many visits to Castello Bruno for lunches & dinners we shall not be returning here.

Castello Bruno 5.0 star review: I loved my experience at this restaurant, thought the food was great. They have a €10 deal at the moment on pasta and pizza's which is great if your skint. Good choice of wine and food. Its child friendly. I really enjoyed it and is worth going to even if you are abit out of the way.

Castello Bruno 1.5 star review: Have visited here on many, many occasions over the past 10 years and have watched it rapidly declining in the last 12 months. Our last visit, and it will be our last ever visit, was at the end of March for my son's birthday. The place was cold as usual. The staff were indifferent at best, surly at worst. The food portions were small (and we wouldn't have huge appetites). Pasta was ok, burger was dry, unappetising and TINY. Vastly overpriced for what it offers. Its sad to see a restaurant in demise so we won't be returning. We rang the following day to voice our complaint but surprise, surprise - the staff member I spoke to wasn't interested.

Castello Bruno 5.0 star review: I agree that the staff could get a bit more of a training, but they are friendly and definitely children friendly. The food is always fine - been there several times and cannot complain.

Castello Bruno 5.0 star review: I was here last Wednesday with a bunch of friends. I had read the other reviews and was worried that this would be a terrible visit. I was totally surprised and delighted that this was wrong. The staff was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The food was excellent and there was a sale on with all pasta and pizzas cost €10.00. The food was excellent; the place was full and the atmosphere full of buzz. We were thrilled with our night and, it proves, sometimes reviews are wrong!
