If you are used to good quality Italian food then DO NOT GO HERE.
Granted its a beautiful location, great cosy atmosphere but the quality of food is awful, not authentic and most certainly - not value for money.
If, like me, you like your italian hams and salamis, and are used to getting them in Fallon & Byrne, then make sure you give this place a very wide birth or you will be greatly disappointed.

Went along for the Menupages deal for lunch with a friend and was surprised to find ourselves the only ones there for most of our lunch. We sat outside, the interior looked very nice but it was fine outside. We both chose the same things - a chicken kebab with vegetables, it was nicely served and tendeer and tasty. The bread, served with oil and balsamic was very nice. The roast pork with rosemary fried potatoes was delicious and we both enjoyed our meal along with the glass of white wine - most enjoyable! We were approached by a guy off the street - he was looking for money and thought two ladies at lunch an easy target. This was a little uncomfortable but could have happened anywhere. Definately recommend going off the Temple Bar 'strip' to find this treasure.

We just ate here.I called and the Man I spoke with was very professional and friendly. The restaurant is really nice and the Italian music in the background was very
nice.2 of us had the Bruschetta and 2 of us had Antipasto Rustico both were really good. For mains, 1 of us had Rigatoni pasta in a tomato and bacon sauce and the others had chicken breast in a mushroom, bacon and cream sauce, served with roast potatoes. All were perfect. The coffee was very good also. The staff were very friendly. I can't wait to return again.

Myself and husband visited this restaurant for lunch with a menupages deal voucher-€24.95 for 2 courses with glass of wine for 2 people - the value of voucher was €50. Even at this half price deal we felt the lunch was poor value. The restaurant was almost empty and there was no atmosphere whatsoever. The only positive to our experience was that the waiter was very attentive. We both had chicken skewers for starters and they were very average - the chicken was very gelatinous. For mains my husband had the chicken with mushroom sauce which was grand but very small portion of chicken. I had the pork dish which was dreadful! It was a plate of fat totally covered with a thick gravy to disguise the fact that there was only a few bits of meat. Overall we felt that the restaurant was more grubby than rustic and particularly the toilets. We would definitely never return and feel we got very poor value for money even at half price.

This restaurant is amazing. Hunt it down and go there!
The food was delicious and good value for a city centre. The service was excellent.
The most special thing though was the ambiance of the place which was warm, friendly, relaxed and just lovely.
Just do it and have a wonderful night like we did!

On a cold Sunday evening facing into a long week in work, I fancied some Italian food so I persuaded my husband and a friend of ours to go along here for their Early Bird. We rang ahead and enquired about the early bird and availability and they said no problem. We arrived and we were just given the normal menus, so when we asked for early bird menus there was a distinct and obvious tone of annoyance, to be shortly followed by a spiel that the early bird menu had ben redone on Friday and wasn't going to be available until Monday. perfectly acceptable but not a great tone and no suggestion of an alternative solution - bizarre. Anyhoo, the food. We ordered baby squid, mixed bruschetta and a tomato one. All very good except the mixed brushetta which came with a very raw garlic option and also 6 pieces of bread - a lot for a starter. Ordered the gnocchi, seafood linguine and the caprese salad for mains - all very, very tasty. Its true what other reviewers have said - the menu is limited but the raw ingredients are excellent. We just ordered a 1/2ltr of the house red which is perfectly acceptable red wine that you'd get in a lot of restaurants in Italy or France as part of your set menu. I would visit again but just FYI if you are planning on going for the early bird maybe get solid confirmation over the phone that the menu exists and is being offered on the evening you are booking for. All in all a great experience and not bad value.

Good Italian in the centre of Temple Bar....house wine is lovely and fairly priced...the fish is excellent....a real Italian restaurant....just a note that the mains come without poatoes or vegtables so you have to pay for sides....does not serve chips which I don't mind...deserts could do with some work ...overall not bad at all hoever a little pricey

My first time trying here and I am so glad I did.The service was very good most friendly indeed. For starters I had a minestrone soup. My sister had a baby squid salad whilst the third person in our party chose a starter of olives. For mains I had a perfectly cooked fillet steak. My sister had a pasta dish and our friend had sea bass. We declined deserts as we were rushing to a world premier. We all loved our food. The atmosphere was great in this beautiful establishment. Another touch I liked was the hand written bill. Based on todays visit I will return very soon and I would highly recommend Il Baccaro.

This is a little gem of a restaurant in Temple Bar. It's a small intimate place, divide into two parts. The first part, as one enters the restaurant, was quite busy, and we were offered the choice of either a table there, or in the other part. We opted for the other part, it was quiet - in fact we had it to ourselves. Service was very good and there was a lovely 'feel' to the place. Don't know anything about its history, but seems that it might have been a wine vault at some stage. The Pan Fried Chicken Breast was an absolutely deliciously succulent meal that came with roast potatoes. Had a nice bottle of red wine to compliment our meal and, not able to face dessert, finished off the evening with two coffees. Then along came the waiter with two Grappas on the house - very nice touch. We'll be back.
