The Halfway House 2.0 star review: I visited the place midweek.

The good:
Serving Staff were very good/friendly.

The bad:
The place was very quiet and the food looked reheated. We were pestered by house flies throughout our meal. The house wine that came with the early bird was undrinkable..The waitress was kind enough to change it for us though.

The Halfway House 2.5 star review: I heard this was a great pub for food so we decided to try it. However I found it over-priced and the food was very disappointing. The fish was not fresh at all and was even a little rubbery. When the bill came it was almost €50 even though all we had was two mains, two soft drinks and soup for my toddler. I'm not sure if there's an early bird but we weren't offered it if there was. I should add that the staff are very friendly and the service is quick, also the atmosphere is lovely

The Halfway House 3.5 star review: I dont usually have pub grub, but as i was here with friends in the bar i tried the food as it was a long day and i needed to eat, As pub grub goes it very good, as far as price its up there with some of the better restaurants, this wouldnt be too bad if the decor and athmosphere was also up there with the prices but it wasnt. Far too many of the footballshirt/tracksuit brigade in the place to really have an enjoyable meal. like i said the prices are far too high to eat in a place like this at twentyfive euro for a steak and then an extra five for a side dish you would be lucky to get out for under fifty euro a head without wine. Therefore we opted for the fish dishes both very good, the halibuit i had was fresh and really well cooked, the mackrel i am told was good also but at sixteen euro for one of the cheepest fishes you can but i thought it was a bit much. We didnt hang around for coffe or desserts.

The Halfway House 5.0 star review: Competent service, well presented and tasty food at very reasonable prices. A bit of thought was put into their Set menu and it shows. It is excellent value for 25 Euro and there is no drop in the standard of food. Worth a visit for an informal night out.

The Halfway House 4.5 star review: Been here several times for Sunday lunch or weekday evening meal. I've never been disappointed and I've always left feeling I've been served good food at reasonable prices. Brought my mother here a few Sundays before and she was able to get reduced portions which are available for OAPs. A nice touch. Highly recommended for pub grub,

Lamb Cutlets with Garlic, Lemon and Paprika

Why not make up a large quantity of this marinade in advance – it is wonderful with cutlets and would also work well with leg steaks or loin chops. The longer you marinate the meat for, the better the flavour!
