Kandu Catering @Sandyford House Cafe Bar 4.5 star review: Went to the Sandyford House for a meal with my girlfriend a while back; they had some deal on which was excellent value. Think it was two 3 courses and a bottle of wine for €40 or €45 at the time.

Food was lovely, we could not fault this place! Portion sizes were big, tasty too and came out hot! We also had a seat near the open fire (gas I think) in the restaurant which created a lovely country pub atmosphere. The next time we went the restaurant was full so we ate in the bar/lounge but it was still great! This is a great place to have decent food in a relaxing environment at great prices, not really the romantic restaurant type. It's good gastro pub food.

My only complaint was that the poor waitresses seemed to be understaffed and were running around all over the place (restaurant, lounge & bar) so the service was not attentive. Will definitely be going back there!

Kandu Catering @Sandyford House Cafe Bar 5.0 star review: Went here last night as part of a deal.
Two starters and two mains for €22 and with every adult meal a child eats for free. So basically we fed four people for with two courses each for €22. I felt guilty getting it that cheap but we left a decent tip.
The kids portions are very generous and include a nice ice-cream to keep them happy.
Adults meals were also very generous and the steak was cooked with perfection. Plenty of pepper sauce too. I dont like ordering pepper sauce and getting a dribbles of it on the plate. This was not the case in Kandu. They know what a customer wants.
For deserts we had death by chocolate and it was probably the nicest desert we have ever eaten; we eat out once to twice a week since we started going out together three years ago so thats plenty of desert experience.
The pub itself is spotless with a warm and welcome atmosphere and the service was excellent.
We paid €15 for the extra drinks and deserts that was not included in the deal which was still very cheap.
We will deffo go back here even if they dont have a meal deal on offer.

Kandu Catering @Sandyford House Cafe Bar 4.0 star review: My wife and I visited Kandu and were surprised that it was part of a pub. We had purchased a Grab One voucher some two months previous and it was a three course meal based on the a la carte with an extra €2 for a 10 oz sirloin and €4 off the filet steak surf and turf. We were given a set meal with a considerably reduced choice from the deal we had purchased. It seems that as further Grabone vouchers were issued, the offering became less and more restrictive. When I drew this to the waitress's attention after several discussions the deal which we had purchased was fully honoured. This is a cautionary experience for would be voucher purchasers. Apart from this issue which could have dampened the meal the only other issue was that the wine list choice was quite limited and suprisingly they did not have the first wine we chose. The waitress was ver profficient and the food was extremely good. My prawn starter was excellent and my steak was very good and cooked exactly as requested. My wife had a salad for both courses and was very happy. This restaurant is quite understated and with such good quality food should do well. I would recommend it but again if you are using a voucher you need to know in advance what you have committed to. The deal may change.

Hi , have just read your review , many thanks for your comments on food, but i need to clarify some facts for you , the grabone deal offered did not change mid sales , it was a mistake on grabone's site , they put up on their site a previous deal that we had done ,and not the one we were offering for €25 , when this mistake was noticed we had it changed to the deal we were offering,
which i might add is listed on our website @ www.kanducatering.ie
and is still incredible value for money .
Also it clearly states on the grabone website that we are a gastro pub , in saying that you bought your voucher thinking you were getting a different deal, we apoligise for the mistake which grabone made on their site.
As the waistress diddnt know about this mistake , i think she handled as best she could , by offering to fulfill your voucher as described , again i am really sorry that this has happened , and hope to see you again in the future.

Kandu Catering @Sandyford House Cafe Bar 5.0 star review: Visited here two weeks ago with a citydeal voucher. It was a really excellent value offer from Kandu....3 courses for 2 people for €19. I use citydeal offers a lot and some restaurants can be a bit rude when using the vouchers, but in Kandu the welcoming we received and the service was absolutely excellent. Extremely friendly staff and very efficient. The food was delicious. We got the mushrooms and bruschetta to start, both really tasty. We both got steak which was very tender and cooked to perfection for both of our likings. One of my most pleasant dining experiences recently. We will most definitely be returning!

Kandu Catering @Sandyford House Cafe Bar 5.0 star review: Was here last night for the Grabone.ie deal, we had prawns in a poppadom basket , wow is all i can say, followed by fillet beef which was divine , we had dessert a chocolate brownie with icecream which was small but just enough cos at that stage we were stuffed to the gills, the place was very busy but our waiter who happens to be the chef as well, gave us more than enough attention , is there nothing that this man kandu, sorry kenkandu , yum, yum ,yum , Sandyford house rocks.!!!!

Kandu Catering @Sandyford House Cafe Bar 3.0 star review: Did an internet search for sunday lunch and decided on Sandyford House, after reading the reviews on this site. We queued up at the carvery and were quite surprised at how thin the chef managed to carve the meat, which was not plentiful on the plate. The mash was nice as were the carrots, but the cabbage still felt like you were eating leaves with stems. The gravy was tasty, but overall the meal wasn't wonderful, won't be returning. When we initially sat down for our meal, I got the attention of a waitress to order some drinks and ask for salt and pepper which were not on the tables. She acknowledged me but never made it to the table. We sought out the condiments ourselves.

Just read your review and would like to offer my sincere apologies that your visit to sandyford house was less than perfect, in responce to your review , i would like to say that we take any complaint very seriously, regarding the slicing of meat , we have no problem in giving as much meat on your plate if you ask for it, the cabbage was very stalky that day ,we dont place condiments on the table on sundays, they are located at the carvery unit if you require them, regarding the waitress whos attention you sought , i am sure it was not intentional to ignore you, having said that , we pride ourselves on providing good service so we let you down.
I would like to offer you either a refund for your meal, or a voucher to the value of your meal, so maybe we can make amends for your bad experience,

Kandu Catering @Sandyford House Cafe Bar 5.0 star review: Came here 2 Fridays ago with a friend - had a look at the menu on their Menupages profile and it seemed to offer really good value so I thought it would be worth trying out - so glad I did! There is no corkage charge so got a lovely bottle of wine for just €10 - usually for wine that cheap you'd have to stay at home which is why i loved this - got great value wine and was able to enjoy a nice pub atmosphere too - I'll come back just for that! We got a bit peckish after an hour but instead of sticking with our original choices we ended up getting a pizza instead as we saw one go by and it looked so good - a really big one for about a tenner so we shared it - i think it would be too much for juts one person. The staff are really friendly there too. I will be back for sure!

Kandu Catering @Sandyford House Cafe Bar 4.5 star review: Came in to watch a match and sample the new menu. The other half had the steak with plenty of sides and I opted for one of the pizzas. The pizza was huge and I struggled to get near to finishing it, it was delicious though!
I normally opt for wine when here, but I fancied a beer for a change, which was excellent. I'm also informed the Guinness is very good.
As usual the service was great, all the staff here are extremely friendly and always happy to help! This is a great spot for lunch or after work drink and a bite to eat, it also is a popular location for Sunday lunch.

Kandu Catering @Sandyford House Cafe Bar 4.5 star review: I ate here on Saturday with my boyfriend and my folks. We all shared the plattter. It was very nice. you get wedges, chichken nuggets and goujans, chicken wings, onion rings, sausages. the wings were great, bit fatty but everything else was lovely. we had to move seats to be nearer a door as it was so warm and the sky light windows didnt open, thats my only complaint. this place doo a great carvery too!!
