Beckett & Bull 3.0 star review: We decided to visit here on Sunday for brunch since we'd never been. Really liked the decor and it was busy enough. There were 7 of us so we had to split across two different tables and later move beside each other, which we were fine with. When our order was taken it was incorrect and we had to send one back so the three of us ended up receiving our food at different times. The food itself was nice but wasn't blown away. We asked for a second round of coffees and our cups had to be taken away to be washed as they'd run out. Not sure if we'll return for brunch again.

Beckett & Bull 4.5 star review: Came here for brunch on a busy Sunday morning. Great menu with lots of variety. I opted for the short stack of pancakes with bacon and 2 poached eggs, my sister had the chicken wings.
While delicious, the short stack was just too filling for me and I'm sorry I didn't go for the tempting special of chicken gumbo! The pancakes are thick, fluffy and American style, I felt very full after about 1 and a half and had to stop. (I think three were 3 on the plate?) The chicken wings were great, a smallish portion, but just enough for brunch and the wings were great quality, very meaty.
All washed down with some good, hot, strong americanos. I suppose I'll just have to visit again to try something else, all the menu looked very tempting. Great spot for brunch!

Beckett & Bull 2.0 star review: Having been to Beckett and Bull for Brunch in December and really liking it, I was very much looking forward to trying it for dinner. On arrival we were practically the only table in the place which was a little worrying as it was 7.30 on a Saturday night. It did start to get a bit busier later on. Becuase it was quiet, the atmosphere was not great, it was also quite cold. However more than that the issue was with the food and wine. The menu is interesting and good value but the quality of the food needs to be improved. Chicken wings to share as starter, very salty but ok. I had the piri piri prawns as main with the sweet potato fries, it was fine, nothing special though. The fries were soft and soggy, not nice. My husband had the burger - just awful, no taste, soggy (reheated) onion ring, greasy chips, nothing redeeming. Not a lot of choice in wines either, and what we got in a Tempranillo was only just drinkeable. Won't be back - a pity as I loved it on 1st visit. Maybe they are better at brunch than dinner...

Beckett & Bull 4.0 star review: First time at this restaurant but had been meaning to try for a while. Really liked the decor, place was a little quiet as it was the opening ceremony of the Olympics on tv so guessing it was less busy than normal. Nice sized restaurant, tables well spaced out so no knocking elbows with your neighbours. We were very happy to get a window table.
Six starters and ten mains to choose from as well as pizzas. The usual chicken, steak, pasta, burger options. What was nice here is that the sides and sauces set the menu apart from the usual fare - sweet potato, corn on the cob, tequila and lime chicken etc so nice to see something different. It was a tough choice to decide what to go for. We opted for chicken wings and calamari to start. Chicken wings were classic American, really crispy (nothing worse than a flaccid chicken wing) with a great sour sauce and blue cheese dip. Calamari can be a risky choice in a lot of restaurants but these were very good indeed. Panko coating was crunchy and the calamari was perfectly cooked inside. For mains we went for pizza and the turkey patties. Pizza was decent but I think there are so many other unusual choices on the menu it's a shame to go for pizza here. Turkey patties were delicious, very moist and good with the pineapple salsa. With a beer and a glass of wine, we were pretty happy with our choices.

The staff were friendly and pleasant so all round it was a good evening. They apparently do an American style brunch on the weekend so would like to get back to try that out. The restaurant is tucked off the main street going through Harold's Cross just back from the Spar on Rathgar avenue so easy to miss. Definitely work a detour from the usual spots in Rathgar and Terenure and is a relaxed ten minute stroll from either.

Beckett & Bull 5.0 star review: First time I had dinner here was a very miserable Sunday evening. The door opened as we were running in from the rain and we were greeted with a big smile and offers to take our coats and umbrellas.
We were given some toasted curled tortilla pieces as we waited for our starters with a really fab spicy tomato dip.
The chicken wings to start are delish. Also tried the prawns yum. I had the mexican burger which is good value with some chunky wedges on the side.

The chilli chocolate melting cake was just what we needed to finish off a big meal. Really unusual.

Will be back :) Great to have a nice restaurant so near. Also superb for brunch. I can't get enough of that tomato relish!
