Merry Ploughboy Pub 5.0 star review: Called in here on the way back from hill-walking in Dublin Mountains and had a really nice dinner and a pint to finish off the day. Food and service were excellent. I had a Guinness to start, then the shank of lamb for main course and bread and butter pudding for dessert. My wife had fish and chips followed by chocolate fondue. Both courses delicious. Portion sizes were generous but we were famished so that was welcome. There's a holiday vibe here that you often pick up in pubs that are popular with tourists as well as locals. Highly recommended!

Merry Ploughboy Pub 5.0 star review: Had a lovely experience here with friends recently which I felt deserved a review. Its nice to go somewhere with people and have an enjoyable experience. To start, I had the Scallop and Prawn, exquisite! My friends opted for the Seafood Chowder and Soup with homemade Guinness bread which went down very well. Mains consisted of lamb shank, fillet steak and salmon, which were cooked beautifully ... we then shared the homemade brownie and bread & butter pudding (gorgeous) for dessert which finished the day on a high. 10/10 and will return

Merry Ploughboy Pub 5.0 star review: Came here after many a friend recommended to go ... did not disappoint! Food was to die for ... all were very pleased with the quality of the food and attention to detail, you get a real sense of class here! atmosphere was great inside & the restaurant was busy which we could see is obviously testimony to the quality of food, the lamb tasting dish for mains in particular was fantastic, presentation was top class! Will definitely be back, highly recommend!

Merry Ploughboy Pub 4.5 star review: Had heard great reviews of the food in the Merry Ploughboy so decided to bring American relatives here for dinner. The atmosphere is great and the food was delicious and excellently presented. The battered cod and chips was really tasty. I would definitely recommend the homemade burger! The service was good. Will be returning.

Merry Ploughboy Pub 5.0 star review: Return visit here with friends as we were very impressed from the last time. I went with the Homemade Seafood Chowder which was divine, big chunks of Salmon & mixed fish bound in a really flavoursome & creamy soup, exactly what you want ... friends went with the wings on recommendation & got the thumbs up, all round winners then ...onto the mains which was a Herb Crusted Rack of Lamb with a Rosemary & Garlic Jus ... absolutely gorgeous! The rest went with Fish dishes for the mains and all very pleased. Dessert was a mini Chocolate Fondant & berry sorbet which was very skillfully presented & not too heavy at all ... its rare you go to a restaurant that pleases everyones tastes buds but this place certainly does! 10/10

Merry Ploughboy Pub 5.0 star review: We went for lunch as a party of four expecting carvery style food and were astonished to find this gem of a restaurant on the side of the road. The girls on the floor were very eager to help us and catered for our every whim. The food was even more surprising. Out of the 12 meals eaten at the table not one plate was left with food on it from starter to desert. The food was fresh, perfectly cooked and it was apparent that this was no carvery. We all left thinking that what we paid was money well spent and are already planning a family trip to the merry ploughboy again. Many thanks x

Merry Ploughboy Pub 5.0 star review: Driven by this place many times & only just got a chance to go in as we had visitors from the USA. Very impressed as this place far exceeded my expectation.Food quality & presentation was way beyond what you would expect to get in a pub. Service was very professional & efficient. Place was packed & I'm not surprised after eating there. The life music kept us dancing & singing till the end. Our American visitors still talk about it!! Can't wait to come back!
Thanks for a fantastic evening!

Merry Ploughboy Pub 3.0 star review: I'm just back from having dinner in The Merry Ploughman and am very disappointed by the experience. A friend recommended it to me and my partner and I decided to check it out. There were no staff in the restaurant when we arrived so we seated ourselves. After some time two waitresses arrived and told us the seats we were in were reserved and we'd have to move. There was nothing on the table at this time to indicate a reservation. We moved and were given a menu. The menu looked great and my partner had turf and surf and I had the thai curry. Mine was lovely. My partner's fillets were overcooked, even though he asked for rare steak. The homemade suace was to die for. A basket of bread and a jar of what appeared to be homemade chutney arrived. When I took a slice of bread it was soiled with chutney. Quite offputting! Overall disappointing service and lack of attention to detail. Good food was spoiled and so was the experience. I will not go there again.

Dear Notfussy
Thanks for your feedback. Sorry to hear of your disappointment. Just to point out we are not a restaurant and have no separate restaurant area. The whole ground floor area is a pub and some tables can be reserved but it is not unusual to seat yourself in a pub. We offer casual dining. I've passed your comments to the head chef. Thanks again.

Kind regards
Donal
