We were there early in the evening, so the atmosphere wasn't great, but only because it wasn't full. I'm sure later in the evening it would be better.

The price of the early bird (3 courses for €16, 7 days a week) and good reputation of the take-away drew us in and we weren't disappointed. The quality of the food is great, the portions are generous and the service is very good. It's a pity this place isn't as busy as it used to be as the atmosphere's a bit quiet but overall a nice experience.

Excelsior Oriental Restaurant (Rathfarnham) 5.0 star review: absolutely love this place, still, never get bored of it!! without doubt one of the best chinese places around.everything is spot on, good value, food tastes amazing, place is really clean and the staff are lovely. you never have to wait too long for your oder, whether you eat there, get take away or have it delivered. i nearly always have the veggie spring roll and blank bean dish but decided to opt for a three in one and chicken balls this time. both were amazing. i find a lot of places do really greasey chicken balls but i love them here. not greasy and you get lots of chicken!! a must visit!!

Excelsior Oriental Restaurant (Rathfarnham) 4.0 star review: Ate here on a quiet Thursday night.. but the atmosphere was still pretty good. Service was good if a little over attentive - sometimes it's nice to be able to serve your own second helping of rice without someone over your shoulder. The ribs to start were disappointing - very tough with little meat on them. Curry was very tasty, as was the King Prawn with cashew nuts. Reasonable prices too - I will go back to try out some other dishes. Takeaway looked really busy too.

It was delivered very quickly which is good.
But the food wasnt great at all. None of us finished it, struggled to get through it. It just didnt taste that great and one duck dish had about 4 pieces of duck in it!
Prob wont bother with it again...dissappointing!

Excelsior Oriental Restaurant (Rathfarnham) 5.0 star review: Excelsior is simply a hidden gem. I go here as often as the waistline will allow. The food is simply exquisite, it is the best oriental restaurant I have ever eaten in. A variety of Asian cuisine is available, Malaysian, Indonesian,Vietnamese, Thai and more. Specialty meats such as ostrich, spring bok,kangaroo and crocodile can be tried. I had lobster here recently and it was simply divine. There is a good choice of wine available and a bar. I am actually getting hungry writing this, my advice is to go and give it a try, I reckon if there is something you want that is not on the menu they'll make it for you no problem. Staff are really friendly and there are some who will gladly recommend you a dish.
