The Wild Goose Grill, Ranelagh

The Wild Goose Grill offers classic bistro food in stylish and comfortable surroundings. The wine list is comprehensive with nearly three hundred bottles to choose from. The Wild Goose Grill takes its name from the Wild Geese, those successive waves of Irishmen who left their country to serve in the armies of continental Europe during the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The Wild Geese scattered far and wide, distinguishing themselves on battlefields from France and Spain to South America. To this day, you can see their legacy in the proud Irish names written on street signs from Madrid to Buenos Aires. But the Wild Geese also left another legacy in their adopted lands, a legacy that bears fruit to this day. From the great vineyards of Bordeaux to the wineries of the new world, the Irish have become famous for making good wine. Many of the wines they produce are now world renowned brands, with names like Lynch and Barton synonymous with excellence.

A nice place, with regards to good lively atmosphere, good and friendly service, and fine food. The portions are relatively small, but you won't go hungry. The Corn fed chicken is delicious. I would describe the food as ordinary food with a tiny bit of extra effort or quality put in somehow. Not a bad place overall. Handy Location in Ranelagh five minutes from Beechwood luas stop and just beside a taxi rank, however Im not sure where you would find parking on a weekend night.

I went here a Christmas party lunch. Food was delicious and service was excellent. On the downside, portions were very small and I was hungry again in a couple of hours! I would go here again for an evening meal, as the atmosphere was great, even at lunchtime.

Excellent restaurant with a great atmosphere. Food is very impressive indeed. The only fault I would have is that our white wine was not left on table which meant we were waiting a while to get more. when glasses were running low
