We had French Onion soup and Salmon as starters, both are thoroughly recommended. We had the fresh plaice and lamb shank as mains, and we had the pots as desert. The plaice was the nicest we have tasted for a long time and will replace my lamb shank order next time. The Lamb Shank was small and tasty. It came with a little pot of shepherds pie which was a little salty. However, apart from the salty taste the pie was beautiful. You get a choice of 2 desert pots, We recommend the honeycomb ice cream and the apple and almond tart.
We will definitely be back.
We will definitely be back.

Had a nice evening here with my husband. The restaurant was full on this evening. Service was reasonably efficient considering how busy it was. We had a Menupages voucher but thought prices were quite high. Even though we enjoyed our meal my husband said he would not return.

We redeemed a voucher for 3 course dinner, prosecco cocktail for two with a bottle of wine. We were least to say impressed. The starters were served from buffet, and it was great, since we had a chance to taste a bit of everything. I had lamb as main and rhubarb crumble poe as dessert, and both were excellent. Great valie for money.

Reservation was for 18.00 which meant we got a very good table and was the start of an excellent evening for the four of us. The food and service was top class. The patrons were mainly middle aged with some younger people who were eating early before going on to the Leinster match. As regards value for money it would be very difficult to get better anywhere in Ireland in these tough times. Well done O Connells.

A lovely restaurant with a great buzz about it, it was busy the night we were there even though we were eating early. There were plenty of staff on that night and the attention was good. The menu had a good choice and was very good value as we had a voucher but it is somewhere we have eaten before and will definitely eat in again

Just dropped in to O'Connells to pass some time while the car was getting serviced and was really pleasantly surprised. The fish special that I got was fantastic, two perfectly cooked whiting fillets with a lovely beurre blanc and delicious vegetables. My partner had a stew which was also fantastic. Great value and a buzzy atmosphere. My only issue was that the dining room was very dark, especially as it was the middle of the day.

If you like seafood O'Connells is a must. The plaice I ordered was cooked to perfection, something lacking in many restaurants I have been to in Dublin...a real treat. The waiting staff were efficient helpful and extremely pleasant. We'll be back!

Restaurant wasn't too busy during our visit. Great choice of cocktails and some canapes were served before we both had our meal. Excellent choice of starters and mains from the a la carte menu. Both my sister and I had the chicken liver paté followed by the lamb shank which was served with shredded cabbage and potato au gratin. Service was excellent as was the choice of wines available. Will return again.
