I had heard a lot about Roly's Bistro and jumped at the chance to try it out when a friend suggested it for dinner. It is not too big and enjoyably quiet (possibly because of the clientele who are mainly professionals). The food in general is an absolute winner but the cheesecake in particular was the best dessert I have had in years (if not ever). Service was friendly and efficient without being forced. While it is on the main road through Ballsbridge and near the Dart and easily enough to get to it is still just a little bit too far from town just for dinner but I will certainly try and get back for another meal.

We had a wild night - Wood Pigeon followed by Venison. The Wood Pigeon was a little tough but still very tasty with Black Pudding. The Venison was, melt in your mouth, delicious. I would definitely return for the Venison. The Crème Brulee was the perfect ending to a fabulous meal.

Simply an excellent meal. The Thai spiced fish cakes were seasoned beautifully, were crisp on the outside and succulent on the inside. The sweet and sour chilli dressing was the perfect tanginess. The main course I chose was the lamb pie. I removed half the pastry so that I could see the inside of the pie. There were mushrooms, celery, parsnips and lots of chunky mouthfuls of lamb, perfectly cooked to the point where the lamb is just about ready to begin to fall apart. The sauce they were cooked in was exquisite. The sides I had were puréed carrots, creamy White shredded cabbage and baby new potatoes. What a feast of taste and culinary delight. I finished with the creamy, soft bread and butter pudding with icecream melting on top. My wife, who,s birthday it was, chose the cheese board. An excellent selection of cheeses, crackers and chutney. Other restaurants could learn a lot by following Roly,s in terms of their presentation and choices of cheese on the cheeseboard. All washed down with an excellent carafe of wine. Lets not forget the service which was coutreous, efficient and pleasant. Overall, I have no hesitation in saying five stars and well done.

Yes, we went back again. This time at a very early time and it was very quiet. The staff accommodated our changing to an earlier time than our original booking with no problems whatsoever. But before we have completed our beautiful meal, the atmosphere had increased as more patrons arrived. Service as usual was excellent, breads were fresh and crusty, starters were lovely and served quickly. A bit of a wait for the main courses to arrive but worth it. The duck was fabulous and my steak was just class. We had plenty of sides and the high standards we have come to expect from Rolys have definitely been maintained. Deserts were luxurious and worth it. Top class as usual. We will be back again soon I hope!!
