Inspired by Irish food with a TWIST...

We are located on the Banks of the Grand Canal, Why not take a 5 min walk and visit us in beautiful Ballsbridge, Dublin 4.

We are well known as one of Dublin's hottest spots for Brunch and now this funky eatery is now open for Dinner!

As restaurants go, this venue is different to most! Our calling card is awesome food in a modest setting and that is exactly what you get. All of our ingredients are fresh and locally sourced. Everything is made from scratch to order and taste fantastic. The restaurant itself is very relaxed with capacity for just 60.

There are few novel little gems on the menu including "Tings on Toast" an unusual and surprisingly delicious array of appetisers with a Dublin twist!

Another incredibly cool factor about DFour Urban Cafe is BYOB policy. You can bring your own Wine or Beer with free corkage!!! What's not to love!!!

DFour Urban Cafe 5.0 star review: I got a Menupages voucher for this Cafe for 4 courses for €27 for 2 - that's €13.5 per head for 4 courses folks - the most amazing value ever if the place/food was OK and there was no catches. That was my mindset going anyway. I am glad to say it was pleasant surprises all the way. The décor was simple but with atmosphere. It was busy and you could see and feel that people at the other tables were having a good time. I would describe the food as simple, great quality fare. The BYOB is a fab idea and saves loads. There were 3 staff on for a full house - 2 chefs and a waitress. The chef/owner is very friendly and chatty if you approach him. The waitress is amazing she buzzed around all by her self with a smila on her face - always helpful and never rushing you and very friendly and efficient. She made the experience much better. We loved the night and everything about it and hope to go back there again and again. I am giving this a 5 star rating but do have one negative and that is the poor choice of desserts - you could have lemon drizzle cake or chocolate cake. But then again there are not many desserts that I like but a bowl of Ice Cream would please me. Congratulations D4 Urban Cafe for getting everything so right to suit these recessionary times. Hats off to ya.

DFour Urban Cafe 5.0 star review: This was our third visit to D 4 cafe .The food as always was so so tasty. Our waitress was on her own serving and it was a full house .I dont know how she managed but she did, and she was very friendly , polite and added to the over all athmosphere . My only gripe would be the cafe was cold and a lot of people kept their coats on.Having said that this is one of my favourite places to eat and i have since bought another deal for my son and his partner and myself also .I shall return again and again.

DFour Urban Cafe 5.0 star review: I have returned to this lovely bistro and enjoyed great dinner here last night.
The place was very buzzy, it seems there was some sort of party here and other dinners like my husband and I. Busy as it was, we were still well looked after, the girl was friendly and accommodating and we didn't have to wait for food too long.
I had fantastic cheese-stuffed jalapeño peppers - a little spicy but the cheese filling cooled it right down and he had an interesting chorizo & mascarpone on toast for starters. He loved it and was trying to squeeze tips on how to make it from the chef who came to check if all was okay. Our stakes were great, cooked to our order and nicely trimmed with roast potatoes, mint peas and onion rings.
Fab food, very nice service, and great value.
A very friendly BYOB policy might make you over-indulge on the vino as I did last night. .
Terrific value, looking forward to my next visit.

DFour Urban Cafe 5.0 star review: Surprisingly! d4 urban cafe really is the opposite of most other cafes in the city. Others have great decor and ok food. D4 have ok decor and amazing food, with staff being an extra bonus. We bought a voucher for this place for €28.00 for a 4 coarse meal. It did take several tries to get a booking with the phones being engaged all the time. But finally we booked for a Saturday night. We arrived at 7pm and were shown to our seats by a lovely waitress. She told us about the byob and the wine store down the street were offering 5% off to the dinners for wines and beers. So I went down and got a bottle of a good french wine for €30.00. The free corkage helped as well. We ordered our food and the waitress did tell us it would take a few minutes longer for our food as they were full to the max. The place had a really good vibe like everyone being at a friend’s house. Our starters arrived not to long after. I had the chicken wings which were really good. My wife had the things on toast, chorizo tapas; let me tell you they were just incredible. It was a mix of chorizo and cheese on grilled bread with parmesan shavings. For mains I had the grilled steak, mushrooms and eggs. My wife had the goat cheese and red pepper ravioli. The steak was cooked perfectly, so tender and juicy. Really good with the mushrooms and eggs, never had steak like this. The mash was creamy and the side peas were good too but would have preferred maybe roast veg or carrots. My wife’s pasta was again to die for, the sauce was so rich and it really had goat cheese in it. We took a while to order desserts as the portions are big. So I went back to get another bottle of wine. I was happy that they did not try to rush us out. We stayed for ever. We finally ordered desserts, they were good but nothing compared to the rest of the meal. The staff were really chatty and seemed to enjoy the rest of the customers. I liked the fact that it was really a relaxed night out. Will def be back!!

DFour Urban Cafe 2.0 star review: Went here with a Menupages voucher which was great value-4 courses for €27. Reservation was for 7.30,arrived & seated no problem. The decor is more like a cafe, tables are quite small and close together and the place was full. Menu had a good selection, I chose creamy mushrooms on sourdough for start & himself chose roasted red pepper bruschetta. Half an hour later they arrived, mine was warmed however his was stone cold exactly like it was straight from the fridge-not good for brushetta! We both ordered steak for main, mine with roast potatoes his with mash. The BYOB policy is great-only problem was we just brought the one bottle! 40 mins later our mains arrived, now I know they were busy but most of the people had finished their mains or had arrived so cannot understand the delay, they were certainly understaffed as well with only one girl attending the tables. The steaks were a good size and were cooked as we asked but the roast potatoes were deep fried cubes and the mash was dried up. It also came with peas which were dry and deep fried onion bits...not very impressed. So we finished the mains and waited for the menu to order the dessert, and waited, and waited...almost another half hour,I ended up going up the the waitress to say were were waiting for the menus and she just looked at me no apology or anything. The couple beside us that had arrived about 40 mins after us were now also finished their mains and ready for dessert. We ordered dessert & coffee, the cake did arrive but no sign of the drinks. At this stage it was approaching 10 o clock...not to sound mean but the waitress was clearing tables that people had vacated, noone was waiting to be seated & it was annoying watching her,she did this for the next few minutes whereas she should have been making the coffees. I like my dessert & coffee together but at this stage the cake was gone & no sign of the drinks so we left & its safe to say we wont be back unless we have 2 & a half hours to spare for dinner

DFour Urban Cafe 4.0 star review: My partner and I booked here using a Grabone voucher. The restaurant very generously honoured an expired voucher so certainly off to a good start. We arrived on a cold Sunday evening and were a little disappointed with the interior when we arrived. However as it is a cafe so I wasn't expecting too much. Our waitress was very friendly and quickly led us to our table and presented us with menus. She advised us that one of the dishes was not available (of course the dish I would have chosen) but it was good to be told in advance rather than trying to order it and then being told and disappointed. For mains, I had the Roasted Red Pepper Bruschetta and my partner had the chicken wings. Both dishes were neatly presented and very tasty. For mains, I chose the steak with fried egg and Portobello mushroom and my partner chose the Spicy Chicken & Chorizo pasta. My steak was done more than I would normally like but I nonetheless enjoyed it. My partners pasta was beautiful, the sauce nice & creamy and not too spicy. We were both impressed with the meal so far so decided to opt for dessert after spying some delicious looking homemade cakes on our way in. We both ordered Chocolate Biscuit cake. I was expecting a small slice from the fresh cake but a pre-packaged bought-in slive arrived instead. I suppose what could we expect for €1.95. Had I known, I certainly would have paid the extra for the home-made cake.
All in all, the dinner exceeded our expectations given what we had paid for the voucher. The service was efficient and friendly and the food was simple yet flavoursome.

DFour Urban Cafe 3.5 star review: I liked DFour's old school atmosphere. The staff quite friendly and helpful. I had a full irish breakfast. The food was just ok, not great, the hash browns were really greasy. Coffee was nice though. And good tea too.it was good value with menupages deal. I don't know if I would bother returning for food though.

DFour Urban Cafe 4.5 star review: Love this little Cafe, the menu is small but still has good choices. We had chicken wings and the Chorizo on toast to start, both were lovely, for the mains we had the lasange and spicy chicken/mushroom pasta, both were delicious, the portion sizes are very big, its simple food done very well. Its also BYOB and there is no corkage charge, this is a massive bonus and there is a great off licence next door. The staff are incredibly friendly and when we paid we got a sliver of choclate fudge cake each, another bonus. I cant recommend this Cafe enough, it is also great value for money. Looking forward to my next trip back.
