Bel Cibo is a modern, Italian pizzeria restaurant, located in the heart of cobbled Smithfield next door to the Lighthouse Cinema.

We have a great new outdoor seating area with capacity for 30 people.

Bel Cibo offers excellent value in traditional Italian food with an emphasis on casual eating in a stylish but informal setting -
its modern fixtures and fittings are offset against floor-to-ceiling photographic depictions of the area in days gone by.

Bel Cibo, Italian for “good food”, delivers on that promise with a specially selected menu of delicious handcrafted pizzas, fresh pastas, gourmet burgers, Steaks , fish and vegetarian dishes – for lunch, lazy weekend breakfast and informal evening dining. Using only the freshest of ingredients, all dishes are cooked to order by Bel Cibo’s team of chefs who have a passion for great food.

Bel Cibo also offers a carefully chosen wine list at very competitive prices.

Good Food Ireland is an industry driven food tourism organisation which was established in November 2006. Many good food operators in a cross-section of establishments all around the island from restaurants to accommodation, pubs to food shops to cookery schools wanted to be recognised and endorsed for their commitment to using Irish, local and artisan food produce. They wanted to share experiences and be cooperatively marketed to the domestic and international tourist. Agriculture and Tourism, two vital economies for Ireland have so much in common and are yet so far apart. Through Good Food Ireland the industry from both these sectors share a common belief and come together as one. Good Food Ireland brings you the visitor or domestic consumer what we believe is the only way to get a true taste of Ireland. The Awards are an opportunity to give something back to the Best of Dublin. Restaurants, bars and nightclubs all over Dublin compete for the highly regarded titles across a range of categories, as voted for by inDublin readers and the public.

Went here for the 3 course meal deal with menupages. The restaurant was quite empty for a Thursday night but we were offered a table of our choosing. The service was a little slow but very helpful and we were able to add to the order with no extra charge. The portions were larger than we expected but very tasty. We were a little rushed in leaving the restaurant with the bill being brought before we asked for it and this was before 10pm but there would have been no problem in staying. Very good overall experience.

Starters were very generous sizes and really tasty, pizzas were v nice. Tirimasu was tasteless - missing Baileys or Amaretto. Chocolate desert fab. The plasctic chairs & green floor are a bit off putting, give the place a cold feel. The waiting staff were not attentive and it was hard to get their attention.

Went there Saturday evening for a pre booked meal for two. The service was top class and friendly. We had Antipasti as a starter, it was the small one which was still very big for a starter. Main course was again very good. By the time desert came around I had enough and just had a cup of strong Italian coffee. It was a good experience and I would recommend this place to anyone. We will be back.

We dined on a Saturday night on a Menupages deal which was great value. The restaurants was full when we arrived but we were brought to our table immediately on arrival. To start we had Antipasto All’Italiana for 2 which was described on the menu as "Chefs choice of Italian cheeses, cured meats and grilled vegetables, served with sweet preserves and warm focaccia bread". We had eaten this dish in Bel Cibo before and it was as described but on this occasion two plates of various kinds of cured meats arrived with one type of cheese, tons of toasted flatbread, a mountain of rather dry lettuce and some hard tasteless tomato. No sweet preserves and no grilled vegetables. On past experience this was disappointing. We weren't sure if this was because it was a value deal or because the restaurant was very busy and staff seemed hard pressed. In any case we didn't make an issue of it. Our mains were better - linguine pescatore and pizza volcano. The linguine was nicely al dente with a rich creamy sauce and a good range of seafood. The pizza was thin with the right amount of tasty toppings and heat. Our initial choice of wine was unavailable but our second choice Monferato Dolce d’Alba was pleasant. We had no room for dessert and just ordered espressos to finish. When the bill arrived the coffees had been substituted for the desserts and no charge had been made which was good of them. Service was low key and efficient although the restaurant was very busy. We're regulars at the Lighthouse Cinema next door and sometimes pop into Bel Cibo for brunch or a snack. And while it's ideal for this, as a bright, busy casual café it's a bit lacking in atmosphere for the full dinner experience. We'll be back but in the daytime.

We arrived at the restaurant at 7:15 last night, knowing that we had to leave by 8:40 to go see a film. I thought that would be plenty of time for two courses, as it usually is in other restaurants. We waited 15 minutes for our order to be taken, but eventually we ordered and our drinks were then sent over. We then waited 25 minutes for our first course - surprising as we only ordered bruschettas. After this course was finished we waited 35 minutes for our main courses to arrive, this brought us up to 8:30 - not enough time to eat our mains before we had to leave for the cinema. I explained this to our waiter who blamed the chef for taking too long. No excuse for taking that long to prepare two average tasting courses for two people. Will not return!

We visited on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was very quiet so there wasn't really any atmosphere. Having said that the food was great quality and there was lots of it.

I visited this restaurant last night with 2 friends. They were running a bit late and I was asked 3 times would I like to order even though I explained i was waiting on my friends. Well that set the tone for the night. Each course was rushed and tidied up as quick as possible. At 21.30 we were asked to pay for our meal as they were cashing up. They then preceded to hoover and sort out the chairs and tables but they did say we were not to feel under pressure. We were out on the square at 21.40 having ate 3 courses and tea/coffee. Oh and we started at 20.00 pm. The food itself was nice but the place was freezing and I for definite will not be back. There are too many nice restaurants serving nicer food cheaper and in a more pleasant atmosphere. Not good value.. .
