Canters Tandoori 0.3 star review: We were 3 people going there - only one of us was really hungry - so two of us ordered two starters - the chief waiter said in a very rude way "we need a main course each". The message was one thing - the manners (or better the absence of them) was adding to the main impression. Our friend wanted to stay - so we ordered a main course each and were served by the very stiff never smiling chief waiter who gave us the impression we clearly did not deserve to be served by him.

Dear chief waiter and dear restaurant owner: You made your deal of 3 main courses on this evening - but do you really think by behaving like this you will make me visiting your place again?

Canters Tandoori 1.5 star review: we ate there today. our printed voucher from menu pages looked very surprise for them so I felt very bad like I never paid for that food which I did online
at 6pm the place was empty. they asked us to pay extra for any dish with the prawns and for nan bread. with the dessert we had no choice cos only ice cream were included and only because I asked for dessert
so its not true that you can choose "any" meal for that price
there was no atmosphere in that empty place with the waiters staring at you and the fake candles like from funeral home

Canters Tandoori 3.0 star review: This was our first visit since Canters became a Tandoori. The decor is warm and inviting and the tables are well spaced. It was empty at 7pm on a Friday evening although another couple came in while we were having our meal so there was no atmosphere at all. Although an early bird menu was advertised outside, this was not offered to us when we sat down. A previous review mentions there's a BYOB policy but we were given a wine menu and BYOB isn't advertised. We were served with poppadums with diced red onion, mango chutney and a mint dip which was tasty. The menu has variations of chicken, beef, lamb and fish in various sauces. We went straight for the main course. I ordered Chicken Karai - a medium hot dish with red pepper, green pepper, spring onion, chopped tomato and herbs & spices priced at 13.50. My partner had Tandoori Makhani Chicken which is tandoori chicken cooked in butter and creamy sauce & crushed nuts priced at 13.95. These prices don't include rice. We also ordered a garlic naan (3.95), chapati (2.50) and a Bombay Aloo (6.50) - cubed potatoes in sauce and a bottle of house white (16.95). The Chicken Karai was very tasty and not too spicy with chunky pieces of chicken breast. Garlic naan was warm & fluffy, the plain chapati perfectly complimented the spicy food and the potato dish had 8 cubes of firm potato in a mild spicy saucy - very tasty but overpriced. Unfortunately the Makhani Chicken had pieces of chicken bone in which we weren't expecting and my partner choked on one so he couldn't eat the rest of his meal. The maitre d' was very apologetic and didn't charge us for that dish so our bill came to 43.40. I'd definitely give Canters a second chance but the lack of atmosphere and the dour faces of the waiting staff detracts from what could be a delightful experience. Come on Canters staff - crack a smile occasionally. It really does make a difference.

Canters Tandoori 4.0 star review: We have been to the new Canters twice since it was taken over by Fahim and his team and we like it a lot. First point to be made is that it has a BYOB policy so if you like a drink with your meal, you have to bring your own. They will provide a wine cooler. The food is great. I tried the Chicken Sheek Kebab, tender and tasty. On both occasions I had King Prawn dishes, I think it was the Narikel dish the first time...and the Chilli Masala the second time. The prawns were huge and perfectly cooked. My partner ordered lamb and said it was the most tender lamb he has ever been served in an Indian. Fahim is charming and makes sure you have an enjoyable meal. Highly recommend a visit!
