An epicentre of contemporary Parisian culture and creativity in Dublin on Rue Dawson…

Once home to French soldiers and British Commanders, a manufacturing hub and a clerical club, a doctor’s surgery and a bicycle shop, a piano warehouse and an automobile showroom… even the Irish Government took up residence at 39-40 Dawson St. This is an address that has always embraced change and those that want to create something new within its walls. Cafe en Seine has recently undergone change. You’ll taste the difference in the menu. Providence in every ingredient and a fusion of flavour on every plate.

Head Chef Tony has embraced everything that’s great about French cuisine and reimagined it to create a menu that’s delicious, inspiring and totally tempting.

Classics like beef bourguignon, have been transformed with Tony’s expert touch. He takes beef cheeks and cooks them until they melt. Then with that wonderfully tender meet he makes a ballotine and gently poaches it. To serve he plates soft and creamy mash and drizzles the succulent ballotine with the richest most delicious jus.

Tony’s presentation is very visual. His food doesn’t just taste amazing. For him the plate is the canvas. The food is the paint. It’s a style that is evident in every dish that leaves his kitchen.

His Brioche Poulet is an homage to French Louisiana and with its firey red glaze it’s unlike any chicken burger you’ve had before. But this is a menu with lots of surprises. Hailing from New Zealand, you’ll see some of that influence on the plate. ‘Hoky poky’ ice cream becomes a sweet indulgent dust on his sublime cooked chocolate pudding and his creme brûlée is served with homemade ginger biscuits. Put simply, he takes what’s brilliant about French cooking and injects a little bit of himself along with other inspirations from around the world to create dishes that are delightfully and uniquely Café En Seine.

The food here at lunchtime was pretty good. The tuna salad special was delicious (although the tuna was a little overcooked) and it's such a beautiful building that it's a treat for the eyes to be in there during the day to be able to see everything.

Went here for lunch yesterday with a friend. We shared the buffalo wings (which are my favourite no matter where I go), but these were particularly delicious! I then got a chicken, bacon and stuffing sandwich on foccacia bread which was the nicest thing ever! My friend got a burger which game with blue cheese, cripsy onions and garlic mayo and chips. I tried it and hers was equally great! Overall an amazing lunch was had here and I can't wait to go back!

I have to give Cafe en Seine full marks for the Brunch I had there a few weeks ago. I had the Poached egg Florentine with chips on the side and it was just unbelieveable. The meal was topped off with a creamy smooth hot chocolate - I'm looking for any excuse to go again!

Returned here with 2 friends as last visit had been so enjoyable. Seated upstairs in restaurant area. Food and service excellent. One major complaint was the horrendously loud music. We couldn't hear ourselves speak and asked for it to be lowered. Ended up speaking to the manageress who was a lovely girl. She dealt with the issue professionally and due to this we will return but the music issue needs to be addressed. A little background music adds to the ambience - that ear splitting (literally) volume totally unacceptable. Either it's a restaurant OR a disco bar - it can't be both!

Six of us had dinner here Fri night. Private party in upstairs restaurant so seated in bar downstairs. Good crowd but not too busy and not noisy at all which I had feared. Food really good - everyone enjoyed what they got and only one complaint - pasta dish bit dry. Service excellent as was presentation. Also very good value. Décor fabulous - nicest bar around. Will definitely return - ideal place for after work food/drinks.

Emailed a reservation and received a prompt reply. Upon arrived we were greeted by Jane who was a breath of fresh air, very friendly staff and top quality food. Lovely atmosphere and relaxed pace despite being central during peak hours.

Service was good, food was tasty, although portions were a bit smaller than I would have liked. Left feeling a bit hungry.

Very luxurious, definitely a place to take people who aren't familiar with Dublin. Not really the place to go on a night out unless you have a hefty paycheck each month!!

Great place for brunch on a Sunday. There's live music in the afternoon and the evening so you can while away a full day in here eating, drinking and being merry!

Popped in for brunch with the girls late on Sunday morning. We all had poached eggs and bacon on toast which were cooked beautifully and a few drinks each. Although the food and drink were nice, and good value too - the main attraction was the live jazz band who were brilliant and created a lovely chilled atmosphere. Perfect for a few hours just winding down.

I stopped in here for a bite with my parents during a day out in the city centre. The place itself is decorated like a palace, this is not some dingy pub by any standards, but the atmosphere on saturday lunchtime was relaxed. If you wanted to impress someone, this is a good place to choose. I had the crab bruscetta (on the menu as a tasty snack) which was plentiful and very good value. The service is friendly and fairly prompt. They were advertising lunch specials at €9.50 and after work cocktail hour which I know draws a good crowd. Highly recommend a visit!

We ate here on Tuesday evening. It was my first time to visit the place. The menu had 2 courses for 19.95 which I thought was quite reasonable. I had the crabmeat and avocado for starter. The portion size was generous and it tasted fabulous. For main course, I had the Stuffed roast chicken with feta cheese, basil & tomato, couscous,& slow-roasted vegetable salad The only fault I had was that there could have been more couscous on the plate. It was delicious. I would definitely recommend eating here. The service was very friendly too which is nice to find in the city centre.
