I absolutely loved the setting here in the Saddle Room, it is very cosy and secluded. The food is amazing value for money for the pre theatre menu. I would definitely come back here and recommend this menu. The only negative I would say from this experience was the over zealous waiting staff. One guy in particular kept on butting into our conversation and I was just trying to have a good catch up with my friends. The food was top notch apart from the pavlova for desert, which was a bit of a disappointment. My friends got the apple crumble and it was amazing. Food portions are quite large, overall a totally lovely experience in a wonderful setting.

I attended a birthday lunch in The Saddle Room last weekend. I was blown away by the food, choice of wine list, and service. Lunch at set menu price felt like a deal. I was delighted with the event and will return soon again.

We went back here after a break of about a year as it is in a convenient spot. The front of house staff are lovely and friendly. Ordered wine and the young female waitress finally after a bit of a struggle managed to open the bottle at a counter type thing away from our table. Unusual – as we thought wine is always opened at the table. Food was fine but had to enquire as to whether our sides were coming as no sign of them. Some other waiter brought the sides. There was only two at our table but same young female waitress was about to clear the table thinking I was also finished when another waiter gave her a push to move her on. Also noticed her stretching across a table of 4 to serve them. Sadly, this female waitress was the only part of the evening that we didn’t enjoy and, on reflection, we thought she not really 5 star hotel standard. The lads in the Horsehoe Bar beforehand seemed to be better trained !

Beautiful meal for four, excellent service. All staff we met were extremely polite and welcomed us to the restaurant. We were celebrating wife's birthday and an impromptu cupcake, candle and 'Happy Birthday' greeting were presented with the coffee course. Highly recommended. The value rating refers to the special Valentine's Day menu, the standard menu is better value and I would rate 4.5 for value

We had a fantastic meal here for our party of 7 prior to attending a concert in the NCH (very near to Concert hall). There was great choice on the very reasonably priced pre theatre meal 25 euros for 2 courses or 29 euros for 3 courses. The tables are set beautifully with lots of space between tables, lovely lighting adds to the serene atmosphere. The wait staff (plenty of them) are friendly and efficient and very knowledgeable about the food on offer - we got excellent suggestions to help us choose. The food was so lovely - beautifully cooked and presented and each of us loved what we picked. When I phoned to book the very nice lady Maureen?? on phone asked if we were heading on anywhere and the information was obviously passed onto the restaurant as the staff came and helpfully reminded us halfway through mains that if we wanted desserts before our concert that we would need to choose in order to have them cooked to perfection. Everything was delicious and I would highly recommend I will definitely be back!

I was brought here for my birthday and my god, it was delicious. I had never really heard anyone talk about the food in there before but the menu is brilliant. I had salmon and crab for starter which was gorgeous and then we got the Chateau Briand for 2 people to share and oh my god, one of the nicest pieces of beef I have ever eaten in my life. Service was excellent. Food was superb. Definitely will be back

We were there as a family for an 18th birthday meal for our daughter. The maitre d was very welcoming. The waiter however was very dour and unfriendly. The food was very nice and was good value for money considering the surroundings. The only disappointment was the unfriendly waiter who really let the Hotel down.

Ate here with my dining club. The service was impeccable. All staff members I encountered were highly professional and perfectly groomed. The service throughout was seamless and nothing was a problem. The attention to detail is immense and there was a good management presence throughout. A special mention goes to the gentleman who attended to us in the private dining room he was excellent. Foodwise was most enjoyable I started with a celeriac soup followed by a risotto. I then had a beautiful cheeseboard to finish. The atmosphere overall in this establishment is extra special however this was further enhanced by the private dining area something I and the rest of the group loved. Overall a great night in a restaurant that I would both return to and highly recommend.

My parents were in town and staying at the Shelbourne and invited my partner and I to join them for dinner. The food was very good but in particular the service was probably the most friendly efficient and professional I have encountered in Dublin in a long time. The restaurant was very relaxed and not too busy (unlike the bar) and it made for a very enjoyable evening.

Had dinner here on a Saturday night with family. Restaurant is quite small with two private dining areas. Rather lacks atmosphere. Service was friendly and efficient, certainly not rushed or intrusive. We were asked if there was an occasion and this was duly noted as it was marked on the desert plate. Food was good, not great. Thought menu was limited and rather plain. Had smoked salmon to start, presented in middle of plate flat, nicely decorated with fruit around it. Had steak for mains, was a little chewy!! Soup was good. Desert which is normally my favourite course, again was disappointed with choice and it certainly did not stand out. Pleasant, but expected more. (Was a guest who spoke on his phone loudly which was v annoying and lacks respect for other dinner, he was not even dining alone!!)

Went for sunday lunch for my sisters birthday and although a little more expensive than I would usually pay it was fantastic value for money for what we received. A relaxed and unrushed experience and perfect for that special treat. I would probably not go for dinner as it is quite expensive but for lunch is was bery affordable. Will definitely be back.

I know this wouldn’t be the cheapest of restaurants to eat in in town but they’ve a pretty reasonable lunch time menu so we said we’d give it a shot. The restaurant interior is lovely. The first thing you see when you walk in is a long island type table, set with champagne glasses. This is the oyster bar and is pretty impressive looking (top image in pic below). There’s also some nice booths and then a large open plan area. We were seated right around in the open area at the back. The lunchtime menu offers 2 courses for €21.95 or 3 for €25.95 & there’s a pretty good choice on it. We went for the French Onion Soup & the Goats Cheese salad with beetroot and apple. I think I definitely made the better choice on starter anyway, the goats cheese salad looked very pretty but there wasn’t much of it. I didn’t taste it but apparently it was lovely, if quite small. My soup was yum. I’d chosen the 7oz sirloin of beef with spinach, salsa verde and onion rings for my main. There’s a €5 supplement on this but I just wanted something big & substantial. My Mam ordered the chicken with coco beans & morteau sausage. My meal was massive! They also came with a side of carrots and baby potatoes. The beef was cooked exactly how I’d asked (rare) & the salsa verde went so well with it. My Mam’s chicken looked so tasty!! Nice crispy skin and juicy chicken. She loved it & I did have a little taste and can vouch that it was yum. Neither of us could even think of getting desert (this is VERY unusual for me!) but there was a good choice on the menu. Total bill was just shy of €80 for 2 lunch menus, 2 glasses of the white wine and 1 of the red. With €10 tip it stacked up at €90 which is definitely more than I like to pay for lunch but as a treat it was such a lovely afternoon.... a really nice restaurant, great friendly staff and fab food – would definitely recommend for the lunch or early bird menu – or even dinner if you’re not paying!
