4.5 Pearl Brasserie 4.5 star review:
The outside is deceptive and can be off-putting. The prospect of going into a basement eatery is not to everyones liking.
Very busy for a Monday evennig - and no surprising given the quality of the food. The whole experience was very pleasant. From initial reception to the final farewell this is a place to bring business contacts (or family, if a special treat) if you want to have a high quality experience. I went for the vegetable tempura followed by spinach fondue and ended with the cheesecake. Excellent. Colleagues went variously for the sea bass (special) or venision and they were enjoyed with equal relish. Four starters, four mains, two desserts, a bottle of wine and two bottles of still water came in at just over €60 a head (inc tip).
Definitely worth keeping as a 'failsafe'

2.5 Pearl Brasserie 2.5 star review:
I dined at this restaurant with my family recently. I'd been quite hopeful as management has changed since the last time I visited but unfortunately left disappointed. The waiting staff were really pleasant but unfortunately we were left wanting for top ups of wine regularly and the service was particularly slow. We ordered at 8:20 pm and didn't get to coffee until 11:50. Initially when the order was taken, the waiter returned to tell us that they were out of monkfish and that left two of our group to re-order mains - why can't they check on these things before taking orders? By way of apology we were offered a little taster of filo prawns. Shame then that five of us had opted for a prawn starter and therefore didn't think this was such a good option, though the gesture might have been appreciated. Tempura prawn starters were tasty though nothing to write home about but the terrine was really delicious. Foie gras which I don't eat for ethical reasons features far too frequently on the menu here and ruled out a lot of choice for me. The turbot which I had for main as well as the other mains of cod, chicken, rib eye steak and plaice all went down well. Desserts were delicious but the gelatine in which the frozen parfait was wrapped was inedible. For some reason when chocolates made it to the table, we were three short for the number of people at the table. It really wouldn't take much to improve the experience here - some attention to detail would do wonders. I'd also prefer not to sit by the bar. Not sure I'm prepared to give it a go again. There is far better to be had in the local area.

5.0 Pearl Brasserie 5.0 star review:
As we already knew and were very satisfied with the Lock restaurant, we decided to give a try to its brother restaurant THE PEARL.
The staff was extremely friendly and professional, we were given a very nice table beside a nice fish tank.
The food was REALLY good, my main course was Perfect (turbot filet with foie gras).
As a dessert, I took the mango/passion fruit ice cream which was also really good.
I would definitely recommend this place for a special night !

I had a really lovely dinner here with three friends. The prices are expensive but the quality of the food is extraordinary. This is not an everyday restaurant. I was surprised to read some of the previous reviews. I too had the Tempura Prawns to start and the portion was generous. Four, very large prawns in a wonderfully light batter with some lightly spiced beansprouts. Haven't had anything like this before. My friend ordered the foie gras and was disappointed when it was served pan fried. this was not stated on the menu. Our waitress took it back without delay and replaced it without fuss. We all had fillet steaks, and while they did seem a little on the small side, I couldn't have eaten any more. The flavour of the beef was amazing. One of the nicest steaks I have ever eaten. We didn't have room for dessert and ordered wine by the carafe as I wasn't familiar with a lot of the wines on the list. We had five carafes (each carafe is a half bottle measure), two cocktails and coffee and our bill came to 310 plus tip. I don't think that's too expensive for a special night out and would look forward to eating here again.

I took my girlfriend to Pearl Basserie for her birthday and we were both very much looking forward to dinner there but we ended up very disappointed. Our table was in a small space between two private rooms and with the sideboard were all the menus are kept right behind me and staff kept passing by and felt very uncomfortable. We ordered tempura tiger prawns (€15) and the pig's head (€12) as starters and pigeon (€30) and suckling pig (€28) as mains and a bottle of Syrah (35).
Well, the wine was rather bland, it may have not been the most expensive bottle on the wine list but it was still not that cheap, my girlfriend received 3 tiny prawns as a starter which we found very miserable considering, as well, that 6 oyster’s would have cost only 12 quid. My pig's head was ok but nothing special and very small too. The main were a bit more generous but the pig's chop (part of the suckling pig dish) was pink and not very nice while the pigeon was very nice. Over all we thought it was very poor value and we found the food rather heavy. I wouldn't recommend to go to Pear Brasserie and we definitely wouldn't go back any time soon.

Visited this restaurant last month and was very disappointed by it after numerous recommendations from friends. I really don't see what all the fuss was about.
My fiancée choose from the early bird which was good value but I ordered from the ala carte menu as i wanted to try their scallops. At €26, I expected a nice helping of them. To my surprise however they served me 3 medium sized ones which was an absolute disgrace in my opinion. I know of other restaurants that are far more generous with their portions. I will not be going back until they reduce their prices and increase their portions. The days of being ripped of are still alive and well and thriving obviously.
It was also disappointing to hear a table of American tourists giving out about the prices, I’m sure they will go home and tell their friends about the prices and that will be some potential valuable tourism down the drain. SORT IT OUT PEARL!
On the plus side the service was very good and the waiters were very polite, I just hope they didn’t get too rough a time from the Americans after I left!

My family and I enjoyed a wonderful evening at Pearl Brasserie recently. The food was mouth watering and the atmosphere was buzzing. The service really made the evening stand out for me, the staff went above and beyond to make our special evening perfect. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant.

My least favourite visit so far! The service and ambience remain great but found the quality of the food at the poorest I have enjoyed here. We didn't scrimp on what we ordered but found the price high also. This place will remain a favourite of ours and just hope the experience and value for Monday on our next visit improves.

A great treat place. I booked last minute so could only get 6.30 or 9.30, not ideal but that was my fault, we went for 6.30. we were the only 2 in the restaurant, a little strange at first and all the waiters were serving us but the music and the vibe was lovely so we soon relaxed. The choice was great, the courses are expensive but it's high quality. We had pigeon between two of us to start, was beautiful. very small but perfect for a starter. We had a goats cheese mousse as an appetizer, was lovely and always a nice treat to get a surprise appetizer. I had scallops and chirizo for mains, it was hearty and scallops were perfectly cooked. My boyfriend had sea bass, lovely and light. By this stage the restaurant was busy, full of fun, lots of big parties so a nice buzz. There are lots of cosy snugs around the restaurant that I image would feel like private rooms. The staff were very friendly and attentive, food was top class and an all around special dining experience.
