Had dinner here, overall good place to eat in town. Had prawns to start - however, prawns were not shelled, was hard work for little reward, taste of sea water was strong. the crab and avocado started was excellent. Had roast cod for main, was really good, perfectly cooked and nice portion. Lamb was also good. Desert was so good, caramelized apple tart amazing, Service was good, nice atmosphere. Worth a visit.

I ate here today with my Husband and was bitterly disappointed. Like other reviewers here we had a voucher (€29 for a €60 voucher). We decided to eat here for lunch rather than dinner as we have 2 children and it's easier to get out to eat during the day than at night. We were handed the menus and they were completely different to when I had looked at them online. I had already decided what I was going to eat before going to the restaurant so I was slightly saddened the items were gone off the menu. We looked around at what other diners were eating and they had obviously ordered from the lunch menus and the portions seems substantial so we said we'd just order mains and dessert from the A La Carte (which the voucher said we had to order from). I ordered the Rack of Lamb and my Husband ordered the Pigeon. We were waiting a long time for our food to come which we didn't mind as we were given bread to tie us over. When the order came we were totally perplexed by the size of the dishes. Mine was slightly bigger than my Husband's but his was outrageous. It was only slightly bigger than a starter and neither came with anything. In most restaurants if you're paying 29.50 and 32 euro for mains they come with salad, side or potatoes of some kind. Now I have to say the food was absolutely delicious but it really left a bad taste to be so hard done by. We looked at the desserts menu and decided that it would be best to cut our losses and go somewhere else for dessert and coffee. To be honest we would have been better to not have a voucher and order off the lunch menu. It seemed to us it was a sham to get us in with a voucher in the hope we would order more items and in fact it did the complete opposite. Very foolish in my eyes as there are many excellent French restaurants in Dublin. Left us feeling let down for the rest of the day.

FABULOUS !!! 5 stars all round
Had the pleasure of eating in La Maison yesterday evening with my husband.
We had the calamari and onion soup for starters both were delicious. We both had the
seabass for mains which was cooked in a parcel and the fish was stuffed with the vegetables and potatoes absolutely mouthwatering.
Thanks to all the staff who were very friendly and efficient had a wonderful evening will be recommending it to all my friends and will definitely be back

If you consider yourself a foodie & have not visited this Restaurant yet then shame on you, the food was exceptional. Fresh and seasoned perfectly served with pride... and that is their right because its justified. They truly understood the voucher concept (an introduction) to a great food experience. Service food and value were all outstanding even if I was paying full price. By far the best Restaurant that Dublin has to offer, I have eaten in some of the so called greats but the food here beats them all, get here before you miss out on a fantastic food experience with a proper Chef & super staff. Thanks guys for a great night in a great spot... Five star all the way, hope your around for many a year. I would give you ten stars if it was available

I visited this restaurant on a Wednesday evening with a friend. We had a Living Social Deal, (€29 for a €60 voucher). It was the first day of the sun, so when we arrived most of the tables outside were full, but it was a bit stuffy out there so we opted to sit inside. There were several empty tables for four, but the host (a non uniformed, middle aged man) placed us at a TINY table for two, saying he wanted to keep the tables for larger parties. I didn't have a problem with this at the time; but several minutes after we arrived he seated two separate couples at these larger tables! Our table was extremely cramped and close to other diners.
Working that night, as well as the host, were two female waitresses who were lovely and friendly.
We shared a starter of pates and bread, which was really lovely and plenty for two.
Our main was the rib eye steak and chips for two. It took quite a long time, but it was so impressive when it came. It was served on a large board, on top of a garlic ciabatta, with whole roasted garlic cloves and cherry tomatoes. There was also salad, and a jus. My friend asked for ketchup for her chips. And the host replied, 'we don't do it', and walked away. She thought he was joking! He offered no alternative.
Later as we were finishing up, at about 8pm; he turned off the lights! There were several other tables still dining. It was just a really bizarre experience. The host was so rude! The restaurant was not that busy but he seemed to be running all over the place - which to us seemed like bad organisation. Everyone was giving a basket of bread, we had to ask for ours!
I did like the food, and it's a cool quirky little place. The menu isn't overly impressive, but had the service been better I would have over looked that. This man treated us really bad and I can only bring it down to the fact that we were paying with a voucher. It seemed like the product of snobbery. Disappointing and confusing!

Before making the booking I phoned as we have a coeliac in our party but was pleased to hear that most of their menu was gluten free so the options were very good. Upon being seated we advised that there was a coeliac in our group to which she was shown by the host what was available to her, Then when ordering we advised the waitress that we had a coleiac and she saud she understood and went through again what could be had. Finally when ordering we just confirmed again that it could be had by a coeliac and she confirmed that it should. When the mains arrived it was served on BREAD which we just could not believe after all we had said, So the options where to wait for the same dish which would take at least 20-25 mins or have a different dish, She had the quicker dish but we had already finished our meals and was really uncomfortable. When requesting the bill I approached the till quietly as we had been charged for the more expnsive main instead of the one that we HAD to eat because they made a mistake, The managers attitude was that they were busy and hey mistakes are made, I suppose this is ok unless someone gets VERY ILL due to their mistake, All in all the SERVICE IS CRAP, and it could have been all handled so much better, Pity as the place is well located but managed badly, 0 STAR FOR SERVICE

Dining at La Maison with a friend of mine last Wednesday NT............
All in all it was a great experience from the moment we arrived.
The location is in the heart of the city with stylish bars near by for a pre or post dinner drink.
With an extensive choice of dishes and two menus to choose from there is something here for everyone.
Newly launched with their spring/summer menus the food was fresh, seasonal and delicious.
My friend went for the salad nicoise for starters with freshly cooked tuna and I opted for the king scallops on the shell which I can safely say are the best in Dublin.
For mains we shared the Cotes de Boufe (Rib of Irish Beef) a classic from La Maison which was cooked to perfection.
Served with homemade chunky chips, chefs salad and salsa verde in beautiful surroundings with soothing French Jazz music in the background and a well recommended bottle of Cotes de Rhone to compliment the Beef.
The service was professional, friendly and the waiting staff had a good knowledge of all dishes.
I would recommend a visit to this Restaurant if you want to sample some of Dublin's finest food.

I ate in La Maison as a party of 6 a few nights ago. The food was super and the service was excellent. All of us went for the €22 for 2 courses menu on which there was a choice of 4 dishes on each course. Each of us was well looked after as we arrived (in ones and two's). Wine had already been ordered when I arrived and the manager's timing was perfect of when to come over and offer to pour me a glass or take an order for something else. We were also served with lovely little puff pastry squares with carraway seeds and sea salt as appetisers. Starters were all a roaring success, the pan fried mackerel and the mussels in particular. The mains also hit the spot, risotto for most, pork which looked delicious and a pot au feu French Stew. The stew itself was pure simplicity yet it was packed full of flavour. There had been a mistake with the orders going into the kitchen and so my stew was delayed by maybe 5 minutes. It was resolved with no fuss and I was very graciously served a glass of pink champagne as an apology. There were no takers for dessert but a few people had coffee, which was served with a little madeleine on the side. Very nicely done and a lovely touch, the people not having coffee were also given a little dish of madeleines. Finally, to top off a great meal with friendly and professioanl service we were treated to a round of sherries on the house. The manager was very personable and although weren't spending big money, we were looked after as tho we were. My only concern was how quiet the place seemed to be. It was more or less full when we arrived at 7 but emptied out and bar a table of 4 we were the only ones downstairs for the rest of the evening. There did however seem to be a group upstairs. La Maison is a gem of a restaurant. It is so rare to get such quality food and service for such good value. I hope hope they are rewarded for the effort with plenty of custom.

There were five of us former colleagues out for an early bird mid-week chat and catch-up. M had booked the table. I was running late and the others had already ordered, but it wasn't a problem and my starter arrived at the same time as everyone else's. They all had the moules and I had the board of home-made pates with sourdough bread. I loved mine - rillettes, a smooth pate and a terrine. For my main course I had the vegetarian risotto. It was tasty, not exceptional, and rather a scant portion. I can't remember what the others had, but M loves chips and ordered a portion, which she thought were great. I managed to squeeze in a pudding: cafe liegeios. No whipped cream, but more sophisticated. We had white wine with our starters and red later. We each chipped in €58 which covered the tip and was value for money. I hope to be back.

Myself and my husband went for dinner here last Saturday night. It was lovely. We both had the duck salad to start with which was a generous portion size and beautifully cooked. I found it slightly over salted but tastey. Unfortunately all the mains except the rabbit tagliatelle was fish. For my non fish eating husband this was quiet a problem and very suprising given the French do love their meat. However the waiter / manager very kindly found him a beef bourguignon pie from the lunch menu. It was very tastey. I got the skillet of fish. The portion was a bit small but perfectly cooked and decilious. It was the most delicious fish I have had in a long time. For dessert we shared the cheese platter. It was lovely and served with the most thinly sliced apple that really complemented the cheeses.
Overall we really enjoyed the night. While dissapointed about only fish they were quite accomodating. Unfortunately my husband wont be back because of it but I will definately be back with friends. It was gorgeous.
