This restaurant has the best location – in the People’s Park in Dun Laoghaire. The setting is just gorgeous, and the construct of the restaurant itself is just beautiful.nFallon & Byrne have a wide ranging menu, but even better still, they have a vegan and vegetarian menu which they update regularly. They sell a lot of produce in their Exchequer Street store, and you can see the freshness of their fruit and veg there, but even if you couldn’t, it’s really evident from their food that they only use great produce. Their dishes are creative, colourful and delicious. I’ve enjoyed their tomato soup (vegan), their asparagus and beetroot salad, as well as a delicious knickerbocker glory dessert.nnI’d recommend Fallon & Byrne to any veggie or vegan looking for something other than risotto to be offered up for them, and the staff are lovely too. Overall top marks from me, and make sure to check out their breads to buy to take home – yum.

I visited here last night for a friends birthday. We were scheduled to eat from the a la cart menu. The service was poor from the outset. The room was dimly lit for atmosphere but so dark we didn't know what we were eating! The bread selection was disappointing, 2 types and no soda/brown bread for example. The tomato bread tasted the same as the regular bread. We didn't order wine but were constantly asked did we want some, to the point I asked for the glasses to be removed. The food was definitely edible, but it was not a good portion size and the presentation was only ok. If I paid for this on an early bird price I may be more kind on rating overall but from the full price a la cart on a Wednesday night I expected much more. Also the dessert was very poor (the ice-cream) - was served in a tall glass, no substance to it and not on a plate or with a biscuit or anything. Also even through we highlighted the fact it was our friends bday there was no happy birthday on the non-existent plate or anything. The little touches do matter.

Great large room with warm & friendly Staff. The menu gives a fine choice. The food was delicious. The peach starter was a delight. My young son was treated so well and his chicken was cooked to perfection, he cleared his plate. Value for money.

So lovely, the quiet upstairs dining room with its white tablecloths sparkling in the sunshine flooding through the tall windows was the perfect, elegant setting for a gorgeous lunch. A salad of spring carrots, broad beans, halloumi and liquorice was a surprising star - especially as it was chosen by my friend, I would never have picked it myself because of the liquorice but ended up snaffling half of it. There is no need for me to go through each dish, everything is good, go there and eat it. The service was pitch perfect and even the ladies facilities are as far above the standards of its neighbours as they are above the street (- i.e. another flight of stairs, geddit?)

Dropped in for a late lunch. Food was lovely and service was very good too. Only slight fault was that it was quite cold sitting downstairs, not sure if that was just because it wasn't busy.

Food was excellent, couldn't fault a thing. Service superb. Will definitely be back. Background music was lovely and cocktails were 2 for the price of 1. What more could you ask for to finish off a super meal.

Had a nice meal here last night... unfortunately I was hoping for better. Service was really too quick... plates whisked away the moment you're finished, which leaves you feeling rushed.. had to ask for the main to be held for a few minutes because it was all happening too fast... this with a 9:30 sitting was unnecessary. The starter was tasty, but my mackerel starter was let down by the miniscule amount of mackerel on the plate, not exactly an expensive ingredient to be so miserly with. Plenty of leaves though, for all they're worth. Mains were good, dessert ok, espresso terrible. Overall ok, but nothing to write home about. Can't see myself going back.

This place is not your regular lets just go for an early bird restaurant. It is really a date night, trying to impress without seeing to do so, restaurant. Turned up at 6, seated and greeted like we were regulars. Wine was poured for you (very impressive especially since the bottles start at €28). Staff were courteous, eagle eyed and treated us no different than if we were there for the a la cart on a Saturday. Food was fantastic but a little let down on the desserts. However, it was a mid week experience that felt like a weekend occasion

This restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, pre-theatre menu was good value and tasted beautiful. It is dimly lit which I enjoy, but I noticed main diners using the phone to read the menu, very amusing! Lovely staff.

I got lunch from the ground floor counter, the soup and sandwich deal is excellent value and very tasty (usually about 6.90 depending on the sandwich). I had the cheese and ham toastie which is so buttery it almost tastes like a huge croissant. I would normally go for the tuna on granary (toasted) which is delicious also and feels a bit lighter. The tomato soup is also gorgeous and really fresh/creamy. Take your food downstairs to the wine cellar and get a nice spacious table, as the main food hall is very busy/stressful to eat in. There is a separate menu for downstairs but it is allowed to bring food down from upstairs. A great lunchtime place and quick too.

Went for a lunch with my wife and ordered a gluten free sandwich and soup. I was told that it might take a few extra minutes for the sandwich and I said I'd have them together. My wife had finished her lunch and mine hadn't arrived. Cancelled the thing and got a refund. What is the problem with getting a gluten free sandwich? Why should it take longer to make, anyway?

Booked a table for 6.30pm for four on a Thursday evening. Food was very good but haven't experienced such awful service in a long time. We felt hurried from the beginning, the constant filling of wine glasses was extremely annoying but what was worse was that immediately after finishing desserts the bill was produced. A manager then appeared and told us they needed the table for a group of people who had already arrived and that we "should have known" we only had the table for 2 hours. Noone had told us this when they were happy to accept the booking. One of our party went to the bathroom and we started to get the bill together. In this time they appeared at the table 4 times and piled up plates and glasses on a shelf behind my friend to reset the table. It was just plain rude. Won't be back.

The food here is very good and inventive. The portions are on the small side so you wont leave stuffed. It's definitely worth a visit though.
