Opened in December 1999 in a beautifully refurbished building in the heart of Georgian Dublin, Ely soon gained the reputaion for being the best place in the city to relax over a glass of wine and enjoy a good meal. We have put together one of the most comprehensive wine lists in the country with something to suit every taste and pocket. Passionate about wine and always respectful of its traditions and culture, we prefer a relaxed style of service at Ely. We are always on hand to talk to customers about the wine they like to drink. Since we opened, all beef, pork and lamb is sourced from our family farm in the Burren Co Clare. All other produce such as oysters, seafood, cheeses, etc are sourced locally from suppliers who share our hands on approach. Our menus are both uncomplicated and delicious; when you have the best of produce to choose from, you really have to let the food speak for itself.

ely winebar 5.0 star review: I booked Ely, for Saturday evening @ 6.30.
havent eaten in Ely before and they had got my booking because they do an early bird.
We were shown in the room downstairs which is really nice, great atmosphere and very warm and inviting. We had different salads to start which were really nice, lots of little flavours going on and very well presented. for main I had the steak, medium rare, cooked as ordered which was topped with a very full flavoured garlic butter. Couldnt have faulted it, lovely. Great value, lovely place and good service. Left very happy.

ely winebar 4.0 star review: We visited on Saturday night last. No reservation . We were accomodated at bar table which was fine. One of party was celiac which when mentioned to waiter ensured that starter and burger main course arrived without bread element. Excellent. Food in general was excellent except I would question the portion size of the Pork Fillet Main. The fillet was cut length wise and was small in quantity. It suggected that the chef was trying to extend his supplies. The wine list was extensive and the staff were very knowledgeble, friendly and professional.

ely winebar 4.0 star review: Great atmosphere and excellent wine list. I had brocolli and cauliflower soup to start which was nice, and bangers and mash for main. The mash and onion gravy was lovely, the sausages were dry and coarse and the skin was very thick on them.

ely winebar 4.5 star review: Four of us had the Early Bird here this evening, at 19.95 for 2 courses, 25.00 for 3 courses. Food was great, lovely candle lit atmosphere, service was really good - a very genuine and helpful waiter, think he was eastern European, he went out of his way to please us. The salad was ordered for starters, really fresh, lovely ingredients, plenty of it. Steaks as main courses, all cooked to perfection for everyone. Desserts were great (if not a little small), chocolate and caramel tart, eton mess, ice cream, coffee was super. Wine fab, a little pricey but it is a wine bar and it was excellent! All in all a great experience and total 160.00 including a pretty decent tip.

ely winebar 5.0 star review: I have been there a few times already and twice last week. I always liked eating at Ely Winebar and was never left disappointed. Service is excellent, stuff members are pleasantly attentive, atmosphere is great: not too loud or not too quiet. Regarding food, I love steak there and chips are just divine! Have tried fish & chips, that come with minty pea mash, didn't really like, but that is my personal taste and for dessert had cheesecake - that was very good. I do not work or neither I am related to any of the stuff member, my opinion is personal - I do really like Ely Winebar.

ely winebar 3.0 star review: Ely Winebar is a cosy intimate restaurant but unfortunately neither the food or service matched up to the decor. I had the monkfish risotto, which was oily, greasy and generally lacking in flavour, followed by the chocolate/macaroon/nougat selection which was no different to buying a box of chocloates at the local Tesco. By 10:30pm the staff had either disappeared or were tidying up around us.

Generally the staff were friendly and the monkfish was nicely cooked but I wouldn't revisit the restaurant by choice. For the price and how it was marketed I expected more.

We greatly appreciate the time that you have taken to give us your feedback and we were sorry to hear that your experience did not live up to your expectations. Once the monkfish and risotto are cooked we then add a caper & lemon beurre noisette which might explain why it could have been a little oily. Although our high quality chocolates were homemade by Skelligs Cholocate Company in Co. Kerry our new talented and experienced pastry chef Monto is now making petit four, chocolates in house and he has put in place a new exciting dessert menu. It goes without saying that we have passed on your comments to our head chef and executive head chef as we are always striving to improve our standards.
We would like to invite you back to taste our new dessert menu with our compliments. Please email anthony@elywinebar.com

Kind regards,
GM Anthony Robineau

ely winebar 4.0 star review: Five of went out for the early evening dinner. Our table was booked for 6.30pm and the colleague who had booked was told we'd have to be out by 8.30. Par for the course in the run up to Christmas, I suppose. Unfortunately, no one else wanted a starter and I wasn't brave enough to go it alone, something I would regret later. Two of us had the crab ravioli which was pleasant, but appallingly overpriced for the portion size. The others had burgers, which they enjoyed but found them to be on the small side. One of the girls had cheese on hers which was still in a slice, rather than melted, but she admitted it was her own fault for ordering her burger medium rare. We shared three cheese platters between us, which were very tasty and went some way to plugging the gap in my stomach. We had three bottles of Pinotage and coffees afterwards. The bill included a service charge, but the waitress was keen and attentive, so we threw in a bit extra. €250, all told.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience at ely wine bar. Although the crab ravioli may not be the biggest dish on the menu, it is more than reasonable for a main course size, the use of fresh Irish ingredients and originality to create this dish would justify why we are charging that price. We usually encourage our customer to choose a side order when ordering mains on its own. I can only apologise regarding the cheese on the burger it should have been melting regardless the burger temperature.
All our customer are extremely important to us and we genuinely appreciate your feedback with regards to food and service. I hope you may consider visiting us again and thank you for your positive comments, they are greatly appreciated.
