The Dakota Bar opened in June 2000 on Dublin's South William Street. For decades, South William Street was the centre of the Rag Trade in Dublin - Dakota used to house the fabric warehouse for nearby Grafton Street's Switzer's Department Store. Switzers is now long gone and has been replaced by uber fancy department store, Brown Thomas.
Over the past decade South William Street has flourished as a destination with plenty of hip eateries and bars opening, along with some of the bigger Hair and Beauty Saloons in the city. It is from this local crowd that Dakota draws in the masses.
There are many facets to Dakota - during the day it serves fine freshly made food and offers an oasis of calm in the centre of the city. At night - it's a popular destination for drinks and rendevouses. And at the weekend it a great place to party 'til late with some damn fine music playing also.
The main principles behind Dakota are offering the public the best in quality food and drinks and service in a modern and chic interior.
We celebrate 10 years in 2010 and we'll be having lots of events to mark the occasion!
We look forward to welcoming you.

Lovely grub at a reasonable price but very poor service. On a quiet Tuesday evening we were left totally to our own devices - no welcome, no being brought to a table, minimal conversation and not once asked during the meal how things were and I sat for 20 minutes with an empty glass. I expect I will return but there is work to be done here

dined here on a menupages voucher. Lovely lively atmosphere, ideal place to watch the EUROs where were on that night. Service was exceptional given it was very busy, food was very tasty, and overall it was very good value (even if you were paying full price).

Had lunch here yesterday. I had the Chicken pate and Cajun Chicken wrap on the lunch menu deal for 9.95 including tea or coffee. Was great value for such big portions and really tasty. The toast with my pate was stone cold and I asked for no onions which I got, which was a bit disappointing but no big deal. Nice airy and bright bar with comfy seats.Really great for a casual lunch but not a quick bite as the staff are very laid back.

We brought the kids and their friends here for dinner, and it's a nice child-friendly place to get decent pub food. The childrens meals are good value, although I think they should also do a kids drink and dessert option, as €3 for a mineral and €5 for an ice-cream does bump up the price somewhat.
I think we ALL went for the fish and chips, which was lovely, especially the chips which are good and chunky and come in cute metal buckets!

Had been to Dakota before for drinks and loved the atmosphere. Went for meal on a busy Saturday night.Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Had the fishcakes for starters and 2 of us had the chicken for main course. The basil mash was amazing. Dessert was in the menupages deal but there was no problem changing my dessert for a side salad to accompany the main. The house white Pinot Grigio rounded it all off nicely. We were under no pressure and stayed there till late. Thank you menu pages, we will be back.

A group of us went here using Menupages vouchers. The usually only allow one per table, but there were 10 of us iwth 5 vouchers and it wasn't a problem. The food and service were excellent.I had the gosts cheese tartlet andf the pork and both were really tasty. The crumble was delicious. We were all happy with the food. I'll definitely go back again.

Went here for a girl's catch up dinner on Monday. Having been here before I knew the food was quite nice and they had a good selection. I seemed to have forgotten how expensive the drinks are, my tip for Dakota is get a bottle of wine to share!
We got the red pepper hummas for starters and i would highly recommend it. just a nice sharing about for two people then leave yours mouth watering for more. The mains were nice, certainly better than average pub food but nothing to jump up and down about.
This is by far the type of place I would socialise in at the weekends but for a Monday there was a lovely little buzz about it and suited the group perfectly. The heated seats were fantastic too!
Our main gripe came from the service charge as we were a group of six this was added on.
The waitress, although very nice was not the quickest at coming over to us. Two of us were left waiting for our drink orders to be taken for so long we ended up going to the bar ourselves. It wasnt busy at all so she had to reason forget the table of six people so often. It bulked up the bill quite a bit which we didnt feel reflected the level of service we received
